There are two ports in Roseau, Dominica: the main cruise terminal downtown and the deep water industrial port about a mile and a half away. On our Holland America Koningsdam cruise we docked at the industrial port, so here’s a quick look at walking from the ship to the street so you know what to expect.

Key Takeaways
- The deep water port is an industrial port, and it’s not really set up for cruise passengers.
- There are just a few merchants selling their stuff near the ship, and that’s it for this port.
- To get to the cruise port and downtown, you hang a right and walk about a mile and a half.
- The walk takes you over the bridge across the Roseau River and into downtown.
Good to Know
If your ship docks at the deep water port instead of the downtown cruise port, don’t expect shops, bars or much of anything right off the ship. It’s very spartan and utilitarian.
Downtown Roseau is walkable from here if you don’t mind about a mile and a half each way. If walking isn’t for you, plan your shore excursion or ride ahead of time.
