Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Scott’s Cruises (cruises.scottsanfilippo.com) is owned and operated by Wuppeanu, LLC. This policy explains what information the site collects, how it’s used, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email scott@scottsanfilippo.com.
Information You Give Us
- Contact form: your name, email address, any company and title you include, and your message. I use these only to reply to you.
- Daily digest: your email address. The newsletter is sent through Jetpack, a service from Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com), which stores your address and sends the emails. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every email.
- Comments: if you leave a comment, the name, email address and comment you enter, plus your IP address. Your email address is never shown publicly.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, this site and the services it uses automatically collect some technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how long you stay, and the site that referred you. Much of this is collected with cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small files stored in your browser that help sites remember your visit and measure how they’re used.
Advertising
This site shows ads through Google AdSense. Google and other third party vendors use cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this site and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies let Google and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
You can turn off personalized advertising from Google in Google’s Ads Settings, and opt out of personalized ads from many other vendors at aboutads.info. You’ll still see ads, they just won’t be based on your browsing. Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
I occasionally run ads on Facebook and Instagram, and this site uses the Meta Pixel to measure how those ads perform. You can manage how Meta uses this information in your Facebook ad preferences.
Analytics
To understand which pages are useful and how people find the site, I use Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) and Jetpack Stats. These tools collect information such as pages viewed, time on the site, device type and general location. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s opt out browser add on.
Embedded Content
Many pages include videos from YouTube and other embedded content. Embedded content works as if you visited the other website directly, so YouTube and other providers may collect information about you, use cookies and track your interaction with the embedded content, under their own privacy policies.
Site Security
To protect the site from spam and attacks, security tools such as Wordfence log information like IP addresses and the pages requested.
How Information Is Used
- To reply to your messages and send the daily digest if you sign up
- To show ads that help keep the site free
- To understand how the site is used and make it better
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam
- To comply with the law when required
Sharing Your Information
I don’t sell your personal information for money. Information is shared with the service providers named above so they can do their jobs (such as sending the newsletter, showing ads and measuring traffic), and it may be disclosed when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of the site, its readers or others.
Some state privacy laws treat the use of advertising and analytics cookies for personalized ads as “sharing” or “selling.” You can opt out of that use at any time with the Google, aboutads.info and Meta links in the Advertising section, or by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser.
Your Choices and Rights
- Cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some features may not work as well without them.
- Personalized ads: use the opt out links in the Advertising section.
- Newsletter: unsubscribe with the link in any digest email.
- Your information: depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information I hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. Email scott@scottsanfilippo.com and I’ll respond within a reasonable time.
How Long Information Is Kept
Contact messages are kept as long as needed to answer them and for my records. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Comments stay up unless you ask for them to be removed. Information held by Google, Meta, Automattic and other providers is kept under their own policies.
Children’s Privacy
This site is written for adults planning cruises and isn’t directed to children under 13. I don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information through this site, email me and I’ll delete it.
Links to Other Websites
This site links to cruise lines, ports and other websites. Their privacy practices are their own, so please review their policies when you visit them.
Changes to This Policy
I’ll update this policy when the site’s tools or practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
