Every Virgin Voyages Ship Ranked Best to Worst (10/2026)

Virgin Voyages only has four ships, and they’re close to identical on paper. They’re all about the same size, they all carry about 2,700 guests, there are no kids on any of them and there’s no main dining room on any of them. So you’d think it wouldn’t matter much which one you book. The reviews say otherwise.

We read the actual cruiser reviews posted for every Virgin ship on Cruise Critic and Cruiseline.com, covering sailings from September 2025 through September 2026, and averaged the ratings ourselves. We didn’t just grab each site’s lifetime score. What jumps out is that the gaps between these sister ships have less to do with the hardware and more to do with where each ship sailed and who was on board.

The short version: the oldest ship came out on top, the newest one split the room, and the ship that spent the year chasing eclipses and cold-water itineraries took the most lumps.

Every Virgin Voyages Ship Ranked Best to Worst

How We Ranked the Ships

We read individual reviews for sailings between September 2025 and September 2026 and averaged the star ratings ourselves, then combined each ship’s Cruise Critic and Cruiseline.com averages, with each site counting in proportion to how many in-window reviews it had. Cruise Critic contributed up to 100 of the most recent in-window reviews per ship, and Cruiseline.com contributed every in-window review we found, between 38 and 49 per ship. An * next to a ship means it had fewer than 25 combined reviews, so its score is shakier, but every Virgin ship cleared that bar this time.

The Rankings, Ship by Ship

Here’s how each Lady ship did, plus what cruisers actually praised and complained about. Keep in mind that the whole fleet sits in a fairly narrow band, so the itinerary you pick may matter more than the ship.

The Full Virgin Voyages Fleet, Ranked

#1 Scarlet Lady

4.10 Combined Score

Lady Class  ·  Miami for winter; Mediterranean (Athens and Barcelona) in summer

CC: 4.0 (100 reviews)  |  CL: 4.4 (38 reviews)

Scarlet Lady

The oldest ship in the fleet is somehow the best-reviewed one, and it isn't particularly close. A big chunk of that comes from where she spent 2026: summer runs out of Athens and Barcelona, an eclipse sailing and a Miami-to-Barcelona crossing drew a lot of happy, detailed write-ups from people who mostly wanted to talk about the crew, The Wake and Test Kitchen.

The complaints are real, though. Several repeat sailors say the food has slipped compared to their earlier Virgin trips, the Miami embarkation horror stories (two-hour waits in the heat, a marathon closing the roads) keep showing up, and a handful of one-star reviews are about service recovery that never happened, including a food intolerance form that apparently never reached the kitchen.

Bottom line: she's the safest Virgin bet right now, but the people who loved her loved the itinerary and the people as much as the ship.

#2 Brilliant Lady

3.92 Combined Score

Lady Class  ·  New York, Miami, Los Angeles and Seattle (seasonal)

CC: 3.7 (100 reviews)  |  CL: 4.3 (49 reviews)

Brilliant Lady

The newest ship had a busy first year: New York and New England, the Caribbean, a Panama Canal transit, a stint out of Los Angeles and Virgin's very first Alaska season. Alaska is where she really shined, with a long run of glowing reviews about scenery, crew and the novelty of an adults-only Alaska cruise.

The split is pretty stark though. Cruiseline.com reviewers mostly loved her, while Cruise Critic's crowd included a lot of 30-plus-cruise veterans trying Virgin once and deciding it's not for them. Specific gripes include a pool and hot tubs that weren't built for 50-degree days, cabins above the Red Room that thumped all night, and a few repeat Virgin sailors calling her the line's weakest ship.

She's a great pick for Alaska or the Panama Canal if you already know you like the Virgin vibe. Traditionalists looking for a new-ship upgrade should read the reviews twice.

#3 Resilient Lady

3.91 Combined Score

Lady Class  ·  Miami for winter; Western Mediterranean (Barcelona) in summer 2027

CC: 3.8 (100 reviews)  |  CL: 4.2 (45 reviews)

Resilient Lady

Resilient Lady spent most of this window running short Miami getaways to Bimini, Key West and Grand Turk, and her reviews read exactly like you'd expect from that kind of trip. First-timers and birthday groups gave her plenty of fives, and Gunbae and the Galley got a lot of love.

The other half of the story is noise and crowds. "Loud" comes up again and again, from music in the dining spots to a pool deck that felt more spring break than adults-only retreat, and a couple of Mega Rockstar suite guests felt they paid a lot more for not much more. Fourth- and fifth-time Virgin sailors also noticed the shows and menus are the same ones they've already seen.

If you want a lively four or five nights out of Miami, she delivers. If you're expecting a quiet, upscale escape, the reviews suggest you'll be annoyed.

#4 Valiant Lady

3.88 Combined Score

Lady Class  ·  San Juan for winter 2026-27; Europe and New York seasonally

CC: 3.7 (100 reviews)  |  CL: 4.3 (49 reviews)

Valiant Lady

Valiant Lady had the roughest year in the reviews, and most of the damage happened north of the 40th parallel. A nor'easter turned a New York to Bermuda trip into a Canada reroute, and the 15- and 16-night Iceland and UK eclipse sailings drew a steady stream of "not enough to do for this long" and "Virgin isn't built for cold weather" complaints.

Repeat sailors were the toughest graders here. Phrases like "not what it used to be" and "my last Virgin cruise" show up more often than on any other ship, along with gripes about embarkation lines and cabins under the gym or nightlife venues.

Put her back in the Mediterranean or the Southern Caribbean out of San Juan, though, and the reviews look like any other Virgin ship: great crew, great food, lots of fun. Pick the itinerary carefully and she's fine. Pick a long cold-water sailing and you're rolling the dice.

Which Virgin Voyages Ship Is Best?

First-time Virgin sailors: Scarlet Lady. She had the best reviews of the year, and her short Miami sailings are an easy way to find out whether the Virgin vibe is for you.

People who want the newest ship: Brilliant Lady. Just go in knowing that longtime cruisers from traditional lines were her toughest critics.

Alaska or the Panama Canal: Brilliant Lady. She’s the only Virgin ship that fits through the Panama Canal, and her Alaska reviews were some of the best on any ship this year.

The Mediterranean: Scarlet Lady had the strongest summer in Europe, and Valiant Lady did well on her Barcelona sailings too.

A quick party getaway from Miami: Resilient Lady. Just don’t expect quiet.

Long cold-water sailings: Book carefully. Valiant Lady took the most heat this year for long northern itineraries that felt too long for what was on board.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Virgin Voyages ship is the best?

Based on reviews from sailings between September 2025 and September 2026, Scarlet Lady came out on top. She’s the oldest ship in the fleet, but she earned the highest scores on both Cruise Critic and Cruiseline.com.

Are all Virgin Voyages ships the same?

Mostly. All four Lady ships are about the same size, carry around 2,700 guests and share the same basic layout, restaurants and adults-only setup. The biggest differences are itineraries and a few venue and show changes, and Brilliant Lady is the only one built to fit through the Panama Canal.

What is the newest Virgin Voyages ship?

Brilliant Lady is the newest. She joined the fleet in September 2025 and spent her first year sailing from New York, Miami, Los Angeles and Seattle, including Virgin’s first Alaska season.

Can kids sail on Virgin Voyages?

No. Every Virgin ship is adults only, and a lot of reviewers said that was the main reason they booked.

Is Virgin Voyages good for longtime cruisers?

It depends on what you like. Cruisers used to traditional lines were the most likely to give low ratings, usually because they missed a main dining room, formal nights or quieter evenings. Cruisers who wanted something different tended to love it.

What do people complain about most on Virgin Voyages?

The most common complaints were loud music and party energy, long embarkation lines in Miami, restaurant reservations filling up fast, and repeat sailors feeling the food and shows hadn’t changed since their last trip.

Is Virgin Voyages worth the price?

Most reviewers thought so, especially since specialty dining and basic Wi-Fi are included. The biggest value complaints came from suite guests who felt the upgrade didn’t deliver enough extra, and from people surprised by their bar tab.
