Every MSC Cruises Ship Ranked Best to Worst (10/2026)
MSC’s grown into one of the biggest fleets at sea, and it’s also one of the most argued-about. Some people swear it’s the best value in cruising. Others swear they’ll never set foot on it again. So we stopped arguing and counted. We read nearly 1,300 individual guest reviews from Cruise Critic and Cruiseline.com, all from sailings between September 2025 and September 2026, and ranked all 23 ships currently carrying passengers.
The pattern’s pretty clear. The newer ships based in Florida and Texas sit at the top, the oldest Lirica and Musica class ships fill out the bottom, and the Yacht Club guests are almost always happier than everyone else on the same ship. One more thing to know going in: Cruise Critic reviewers are a much tougher crowd than Cruiseline.com reviewers, often by a full star or more on the same ship.
These are scores from the past year only, not lifetime averages, so a ship that had a rough season (or a great one) shows up that way here.
Every MSC Cruises Ship Ranked Best to Worst
How We Ranked the Ships
We averaged every individual review we read from sailings between September 1, 2025 and September 30, 2026, on Cruise Critic and Cruiseline.com, capped at 100 reviews per ship on each site. The combined score weights each site by how many in-window reviews it had, so a ship with 100 Cruiseline.com reviews and 30 Cruise Critic reviews leans toward its Cruiseline.com number. A * means the ship had fewer than 25 combined reviews in the window, so take its rank with a grain of salt.

Top 10: The Best MSC Ships Right Now
#1 MSC World America
World Class · Miami, FL
CC: 3.2 (59 reviews) | CL: 4.5 (93 reviews)
Best for: Families who want MSC's newest ship and its best kids' facilities
MSC's newest ship in Miami tops the table, and on Cruiseline.com it isn't close. Reviewers there gush about the World Promenade, the dry slide, the kids' clubs and a Yacht Club that several people called the best part of their year. Plenty of first-time MSC guests coming over from Royal Caribbean said they'd book again.
Cruise Critic is a different room entirely, where the same ship lands barely above a 3. The complaints repeat: so-so buffet food, slow or indifferent bar service, and loyal Diamond members who expected more. One reviewer summed it up as beautiful but boring outside the Yacht Club.
Net result: it's the best hardware MSC has in the US, and most people leave happy, but go in expecting a big, busy, value-priced ship, not a premium one.
#2 MSC Seascape
Seaside EVO Class · Galveston, TX
CC: 3.4 (77 reviews) | CL: 4.3 (100 reviews)
Best for: First-time cruisers from Galveston or Miami who want a newer ship at a fair price
Seascape gave us the largest combined sample of any ship, and it holds up. Cruiseline.com reviewers keep praising the theater shows, the wait staff and the value, with a lot of first-timers and Galveston and Miami regulars saying it beat their expectations.
Cruise Critic is split almost down the middle. The 5-star reviews read like love letters to the crew, while the 1-star ones pile on about food quality, paid bottled water, music skewed heavily Latin and a general sense of being upsold.
It's one of the safest bets in the fleet if you know you're buying MSC: a pretty, well-run ship where the people make the trip and the buffet doesn't.
#3 MSC Seaside
Seaside Class · Various
CC: 3.3 (61 reviews) | CL: 4.3 (100 reviews)
Best for: Short 3 and 4 night Bahamas getaways with an Ocean Cay stop
The Miami workhorse still pulls strong numbers on Cruiseline.com, where short Bahamas sailings and Ocean Cay get most of the credit. Reviewers like the hot tubs, the parties and the friendly staff, and a few repeat guests openly said they complained a lot and would still board again tomorrow.
Cruise Critic is harder on it. The recurring themes are a confusing layout, dated or worn spots, mold and maintenance comments, mediocre food and a steady drumbeat of upselling. Several people compared it unfavorably to sister ship Seashore.
Seaside works best as a cheap, fun 3 or 4 night getaway. Stretch it to a week and the ship's age starts showing up in the reviews.
#4 MSC Seashore
Seaside EVO Class · Port Canaveral, FL
CC: 3.1 (59 reviews) | CL: 4.4 (100 reviews)
Best for: Families sailing from Port Canaveral who keep expectations tuned to the fare
Seashore is basically tied with Seaside overall, but with a sharper split between the two sites. Cruiseline.com hit our 100 review cap with an average well over 4, full of happy families, Port Canaveral regulars and people raving about the overnight at Ocean Cay.
Cruise Critic paints a messier picture. Reviewers called out tiny cabins, weak dining, smoking on board and a Yacht Club that some felt didn't feel exclusive enough. Even fans of the ship admitted the layout takes a few days to figure out.
It's a good-looking, newer ship that rewards people who keep expectations tuned to the fare. If you're coming from Celebrity, read the Cruise Critic reviews first.
#5 MSC Meraviglia
Meraviglia Class · New York, NY
CC: 2.9 (34 reviews) | CL: 4.1 (100 reviews)
Best for: Value seekers who want a big, polished ship and don't mind some wear
Meraviglia's year was all Brooklyn winter sailings and spring Med repositioning, and the reviews show it. Cruiseline.com gave it a solid 4.1 across a full 100 reviews, with praise for the glass staircases, the Galleria and good value.
The low scores mostly trace back to bad luck and wear: a blizzard sailing that skipped Ocean Cay, a cabin with no heat for two nights, and reviewers mentioning stained furniture and musty smells. Cruise Critic averaged under 3.
It's still a decent ship for the money, but the New York program clearly took a toll on how people experienced it this year.
#6 MSC Divina
Fantasia Class · Various
CC: 3.2 (23 reviews) | CL: 4.2 (31 reviews)
Best for: Cruisers who book for the itinerary, including transatlantic and holiday sailings
Divina is the surprise of the older ships. Its Caribbean, transatlantic and Med sailings drew a 4.2 on Cruiseline.com, with reviewers loving the itineraries, the holiday sailings and the solo-friendly vibe.
The Cruise Critic negatives are pointed, though: undercooked food, queues for everything at the buffet, a smoky casino, small cabins and one reviewer who flat out called it unsafe. Even the fans called it an outdated ship with slow elevators.
Book it for the route, not the ship. People who chose Divina for the ports mostly came home happy.
#7 MSC Orchestra
Musica Class · Various
CC: 2.7 (6 reviews) | CL: 4.6 (7 reviews)
Small sample size — treat this score as directional.
Best for: Mediterranean port lovers who don't need much from the ship itself
Orchestra is a tiny-sample ship, so treat the ranking with care. The handful of Cruiseline.com reviewers were nearly euphoric, calling it the best cruise of their life and loving the Mediterranean ports from Genoa.
Cruise Critic was far cooler, with complaints about unfriendly bar staff, illness on board and one reviewer who said the experience put them off cruising entirely.
Small, older and port-focused. It earns its spot on the strength of the itinerary more than anything on board.
#8 MSC Grandiosa
Meraviglia Plus Class · Various
CC: 2.4 (39 reviews) | CL: 4.2 (85 reviews)
Best for: Yacht Club guests and families who can live with big crowds
Grandiosa has two personalities in the data. On Cruiseline.com it's a 4.2, carried by Port Canaveral and Caribbean sailings, the New Year's Eve parties, AUREA dining and a Yacht Club one reviewer called a game-changer.
On Cruise Critic it's a 2.4, the biggest gap between the two sites of any ship. The complaints are about crowds, kids everywhere, QR codes and the app for everything, long embarkation lines, and one disturbing report about child safety in the games room.
If you book Grandiosa, book it knowing it's a packed family ship. The Yacht Club guests are a very different, much happier group.
#9 MSC Musica
Musica Class · Various
CC: 3.2 (11 reviews) | CL: 4.0 (8 reviews)
Small sample size — treat this score as directional.
Best for: Quiet, port-heavy trips to the Canaries and the Med with an international crowd
Musica is an older ship that Cruiseline.com reviewers described as well kept and pretty for her age, with a genuinely international crowd on Canary Islands and Med runs.
Cruise Critic had a few rough ones, including a bartender confrontation and complaints about bland food and thin entertainment, which drags down a small sample.
Nobody's booking Musica for the slides. It's a quiet, port-heavy ship that suits people who don't need much from the ship itself.
#10 MSC Poesia
Musica Class · Various
CC: 2.6 (27 reviews) | CL: 4.2 (31 reviews)
Best for: Alaska scenery on a budget, with modest expectations for the ship
Poesia spent a big chunk of the window in Alaska, and that's where most of its good press comes from. Cruiseline.com reviewers loved the scenery, the bartenders and the Panama Canal and Baltic runs.
Cruise Critic was brutal by comparison, averaging just over 2.5. Reviewers complained about surprise charges, a ship that isn't accessibility friendly, illness and quarantine, and a New Year's sailing that didn't live up to the price.
The scenery's doing a lot of the work here. It's a fine ride to Alaska, but the ship itself didn't impress the critics.
Ranks 11 to 20: Mixed Reviews
#11 MSC Fantasia
Fantasia Class · Various
CC: 3.0 (9 reviews) | CL: 3.7 (6 reviews)
Small sample size — treat this score as directional.
Best for: Yacht Club guests who want a long itinerary on an older ship
Fantasia's small sample leans mixed on both sites. The good reviews come from Yacht Club guests and a few long-time MSC fans who said it was a solid 8 out of 10.
The bad ones talk about a tired ship, a crowded pool deck with nowhere to sit, a buffet described as a scrum, and one 13-time cruiser calling it their worst.
It's middle of the road. Book the Yacht Club or book something newer.
#12 MSC Preziosa
Fantasia Class · Various
CC: 3.0 (9 reviews) | CL: 4.3 (2 reviews)
Small sample size — treat this score as directional.
Best for: Norway and Northern Europe itineraries on a mid-size ship
Preziosa only had a handful of in-window reviews, mostly Norway and Northern Europe sailings. The best ones praised the itinerary and the size of the ship for people who don't like megaships.
The worst ones were genuinely bad: filthy bathrooms, overcrowding and one birthday trip of a lifetime that turned into what the reviewer called a cautionary tale.
Too few reviews to say much with confidence, but the Norway itineraries seem to be what people are really buying.
#13 MSC Armonia
Lirica Class · Various
CC: 3.0 (8 reviews) | CL: 3.8 (3 reviews)
Small sample size — treat this score as directional.
Best for: Adriatic and Eastern Med port hopping on a tight budget
Armonia is one of MSC's oldest ships, and the reviewers know it. The fans called her an older lady who still delivers value, mostly on Adriatic and Eastern Med sailings.
The detractors said the food is awful at every turn and the ship needs to be retired, with noise and wear coming up more than once.
Fine if you're there for Dubrovnik and Kotor and treat the ship as a hotel. Not fine if you want the ship to be the vacation.
#14 MSC World Europa
World Class · Various
CC: 3.0 (28 reviews) | CL: 3.5 (9 reviews)
Best for: Yacht Club guests who want the World class hardware in Europe
The World class flagship in Europe underperforms her American sister by a wide margin. Reviewers admire the hardware and the shows, but a lot of the comments are about slow embarkation, crowds and food that didn't suit American tastes.
Yacht Club guests were the happiest group by far. Mainstream guests described it as nothing horrible, nothing memorable, which is about where the numbers land too.
It's a stunning ship with a service and logistics problem. If you're comparing the two World class ships, the US one is clearly getting more love right now.
#15 MSC Virtuosa
Meraviglia Plus Class · Various
CC: 2.6 (49 reviews) | CL: 4.1 (13 reviews)
Best for: Short UK mini cruises and fans of big production shows
Virtuosa had a rough patch in October 2025 on Cruise Critic, with a run of 1-star reviews from a transatlantic and UK sailings. Complaints were about lukewarm food, tiny balcony cabins, overcrowding and one memorable line about being all fur coat and no knickers.
Cruiseline.com was much kinder, with reviewers praising the shows, the staff and the Southampton mini cruises.
Pretty ship, polarizing experience. The British reviewers were the toughest crowd of anyone in this dataset.
#16 MSC Splendida
Fantasia Class · Various
CC: 2.1 (11 reviews) | CL: 3.8 (9 reviews)
Small sample size — treat this score as directional.
Best for: Yacht Club guests and repeat Mediterranean cruisers
Splendida's numbers swing hard depending on who's on board. Yacht Club guests and repeat Med cruisers rated it highly and one simply said they'd be back next October.
Everyone else seemed to run into crowds, pushy passengers, loud groups and buffet chaos. Cruise Critic averaged barely above 2.
It's a nicely decorated ship with a crowd management problem. Your mileage will depend a lot on which week you sail.
#17 MSC Magnifica Tied
Musica Class · Various
CC: 2.4 (14 reviews) | CL: 4.2 (5 reviews)
Small sample size — treat this score as directional.
Best for: Baltic and Norway ports at a good price, with the ship a distant second
Magnifica had a great showing on Cruiseline.com in a tiny sample, mostly Baltic and Norway sailings where the crew and itinerary carried the day.
Cruise Critic was a pile-on in summer 2026, with reviewers calling out poor food, extra charges for basics and limited facilities. One headline told readers to choose a ship built after 2020, which is blunt but not unfair.
Book it for Northern Europe ports if the price is right. Don't book it for the ship.
#17 MSC Sinfonia Tied
Lirica Class · Various
CC: 2.6 (7 reviews) | CL: 3.3 (4 reviews)
Small sample size — treat this score as directional.
Best for: A budget look at the Greek islands
Sinfonia is one of the smallest and oldest ships in the fleet, and it scored like it. The best reviews mention clean cabins, good stewards and lovely Greek island ports.
The rest describe a worn ship, too little time in port, bad value and one reviewer who opened with a single word: don't.
A budget way to see Greece, and that's about it.
#19 MSC Seaview
Seaside Class · Various
CC: 2.8 (15 reviews) | CL: 2.8 (2 reviews)
Small sample size — treat this score as directional.
Best for: Yacht Club guests who plan to stay inside the Yacht Club
Seaview's in-window reviews are almost all Mediterranean, and they're unforgiving. Reviewers said it was too busy, the food was bad and the bartenders were rude.
The bright spot, again, is the Yacht Club. Several reviewers said the experience was excellent as long as you never leave it.
Low sample on Cruiseline.com, so the score leans on Cruise Critic, but there's not much here pulling it up.
#20 MSC Euribia
Meraviglia Plus Class · Various
CC: 2.0 (12 reviews) | CL: 4.4 (6 reviews)
Small sample size — treat this score as directional.
Best for: Northern Europe fjord sailings, ideally in the Yacht Club
Euribia had a tough year, including being stuck in Dubai during the Gulf disruption and a cancelled spring sailing. Cruise Critic reviewers averaged just 2, with complaints about food, rude staff and customer service.
Cruiseline.com reviewers from the Arabian and Northern Europe runs were much happier, and the Yacht Club got good marks from seasoned MSC guests.
Hard to judge a ship fairly in a year like this one, but the reviews say it isn't living up to its LNG-powered newer-ship billing.
Ranks 21 to 23: The Lowest Rated MSC Ships
#21 MSC Lirica
Lirica Class · Various
CC: 2.4 (8 reviews) | CL: 3.8 (3 reviews)
Small sample size — treat this score as directional.
Best for: Eastern Med itineraries at the lowest price in the fleet
Lirica is MSC's oldest ship, and the Cruise Critic reviews are the harshest in the fleet outside Bellissima: lukewarm food, a casino dispute and one reviewer who wanted to swim back to Venice.
A few fans said it's a quiet, affordable way to do the Eastern Med with a welcoming crew.
It's a budget ship that knows it's a budget ship. Price it against a newer MSC ship before you book.
#22 MSC Opera
Lirica Class · Various
CC: 2.5 (10 reviews)
Small sample size — treat this score as directional.
Best for: Cruisers who are there strictly for the route
Opera had zero in-window reviews on Cruiseline.com, so this is a Cruise Critic only score from 10 reviews, mostly South Africa and Med sailings.
Reviewers called out small cabins, a struggling air conditioning system, unfriendly service and weak food, though a couple of Venice and Malaga guests were pleased with the itinerary.
Thin data and not encouraging. It's one to skip unless the route is the whole point.
#23 MSC Bellissima
Meraviglia Class · Various
CC: 1.8 (4 reviews)
Small sample size — treat this score as directional.
Best for: Hard to say yet, with only a handful of recent reviews
Bellissima comes in last, but read the asterisk: only four Cruise Critic reviews and none on Cruiseline.com in the window. That's a very thin slice of the year to judge a whole ship on.
The four reviews we did find were all negative, citing check-in problems, a cabin change nobody was told about and a family trip that went badly.
This ranking says more about a tiny sample than about the ship. We'd wait for more reviews before reading much into it.
Not Yet Ranked
Which MSC Ship Is Best?
First-time cruisers: MSC Seascape. It’s newer, it’s in Galveston and Miami, and its reviews are consistently solid.
Families: MSC World America. It has the best kids’ facilities in the fleet and the highest score overall. MSC Seashore is the budget backup out of Port Canaveral.
People who want the newest ship: MSC World America. It’s the newest ship you can sail right now, and the reviews back up the hype.
Short getaways: MSC Seaside. Three and four night Bahamas runs with Ocean Cay are exactly what this ship does well.
Mediterranean on a budget: MSC Divina or MSC Orchestra. Book them for the itinerary and treat the ship as a comfortable hotel.
Alaska: MSC Poesia. The scenery reviews are glowing, but go in with modest expectations for the ship itself.
Yacht Club fans: almost any of the bigger ships. Yacht Club reviews were strong across the fleet, even on ships that scored poorly overall.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best MSC ship right now?
Based on reviews from sailings between September 2025 and September 2026, MSC World America ranked first, followed closely by MSC Seascape, MSC Seaside and MSC Seashore. All four sail from US ports.
Which MSC ship has the worst reviews?
MSC Bellissima finished last, but it only had four in-window reviews, all on Cruise Critic. Among ships with enough reviews to trust, MSC Virtuosa and MSC World Europa scored lowest.
Is MSC Yacht Club worth it?
For most reviewers, yes. Yacht Club guests consistently rated their cruises higher than other guests on the same ship, and several reviewers said the experience was excellent as long as you stay inside the Yacht Club.
Are older MSC ships worth booking?
They can be if the itinerary is what you’re after. Ships like Divina, Orchestra and Musica scored reasonably well with guests who booked for the ports, but reviewers often mentioned worn areas, smaller cabins and fewer things to do on board.
Why do MSC reviews vary so much?
MSC draws a mix of first-time cruisers, international guests and travelers coming from other lines, and expectations vary a lot. In our data, Cruise Critic reviewers rated the same ships 1 to 2 stars lower than Cruiseline.com reviewers did.
Is MSC good for first-time cruisers?
Many first-timers in our sample loved it, especially on the newer US-based ships like Seascape, Seashore and World America. Go in expecting a big, busy, value-priced ship and you’ll probably be happy.
What do MSC reviewers complain about most?
The most common complaints were buffet food quality, extra charges and upselling, crowding on the bigger ships, and slow bar service. The most common praise went to the crew, the shows and the Ocean Cay private island.
