Let’s take a walk around Deck 3 on Holland America’s Rotterdam, decorated for Christmas. We’ll start at the aft of the ship in the main dining room, then pass the photo gallery, the Grand Dutch Cafe and guest services in the atrium, browse the shops and look down on B.B. King’s Blues Club before I got kicked out of the casino.

Key Takeaways

  • The main dining room on Deck 3 is for guests with traditional fixed seating, early or late.
  • The photo gallery is here, and they also do iris photography. They still print out the photos, but you can get them digitally too.
  • The Grand Dutch Cafe is a very popular spot for coffee, drinks, light bites and Dutch treats, and the line here in the morning can get long.
  • Guest services is right in the ship’s atrium, which was all decorated with Christmas trees. Even Louie was dressed up for the holidays.
  • Deck 2 has most of the jewelry stores, while Deck 3 has more clothing, the duty free shop, less expensive jewelry and Holland America logo gear, including big and small plush Louies.
  • You can look down on B.B. King’s Blues Club from up here and still listen to the music if you don’t want to be on the dance floor.
  • There’s a small nonsmoking casino on this deck with just a few machines, with the duty free liquor and cigarettes right outside.

Good to Know

Know which dining room is yours. If you have traditional early or late seating, you’ll dine here on Deck 3. If you have open seating, or Club Orange, you’ll be eating down on Deck 2, and I cover that in my Deck 2 video.

The upper level of B.B. King’s is a nice spot to just sit and relax. You get the music and the view of the band without the crowd on the dance floor below.

Heads up if you like to film: there’s no filming in the casino. I got kicked out before I even made it inside, so there’s no casino tour in this one.
