Come along with me for a walk around Deck 2 on Holland America’s Rotterdam, all decked out for the holidays. We’ll start at Billboard Onboard and the Rolling Stone Rock Room, stop in at B.B. King’s Blues Club, then head through the shops and the atrium to Pinnacle Grill, Ocean Bar, Rudi’s Sel de Mer, Half Moon Bar, Club Orange and the main dining room.

Key Takeaways

  • Billboard Onboard is the ship’s piano bar, with two grand pianos. It’s not a dueling piano bar, just two piano players singing and entertaining you.
  • There’s a little nook right by Billboard Onboard where they hold a whiskey tasting at least once during the cruise.
  • The Rolling Stone Rock Room is right across from Billboard Onboard, and the two venues usually alternate, so when the pianos are going, the band plays at Rolling Stone.
  • B.B. King’s Blues Club is a hot venue at night. The band does a fantastic job and the dance floor is packed every night. It’s also where they hold the Orange Party.
  • Deck 2 is like Jewelry Row, with most of the ship’s jewelry shops along here.
  • Pinnacle Grill is the ship’s steakhouse, and Rudi’s Sel de Mer, Rudi Sodamin’s namesake seafood restaurant, is right by Ocean Bar.
  • Half Moon Bar is my favorite spot on the ship, with seating along the windows for a cocktail before dinner.
  • The Club Orange restaurant is on this deck, just for guests who purchased the Club Orange package.

Good to Know

If you have dinner at Pinnacle Grill, make sure you get the gin and tonic done tableside. It’s fantastic. Rudi’s Sel de Mer next door is another excellent choice if you’re in the mood for seafood.

Pay attention to where your dinner is. The main dining room on Deck 2 is for open seating, so if you have open seating, that’s where you’ll eat. Deck 3 is reserved for traditional fixed dinner times, early and late, and Club Orange guests have their own restaurant here on Deck 2.

You’ll see slot machines in the Ocean Bar lounge in this video, but they were only there because this was a slot tournament cruise. Normally that area is all opened up for lounge seating. And since I filmed at Christmas time, the pastry team’s gingerbread house display was up. You can smell the gingerbread as you walk by.
