Come along with me for a walk around Deck 5, the Promenade Deck, on Carnival Horizon. We’ll start at the Havana Bar and the Havana pool area, then work our way past Ocean Plaza, Guy’s Pig & Anchor, Bonsai Sushi and the Alchemy Bar before finishing up in the atrium with all the shops.

Key Takeaways
- The Havana Bar is a Cuban themed bar with a band at night, and if you’re in a Havana stateroom like I was, you get access to the Havana pool and sun deck with a hot tub, loungers and beds.
- None of the revolving doors I tried on this ship actually revolve on their own, so you’ll have to push them.
- Horizon has smart elevators: you pick your floor and how many people are going at the display outside, and there’s no option to choose a floor once you’re inside.
- Ocean Plaza is where they do trivia and karaoke, and it has its own little bar. JavaBlue is right nearby for coffee and donuts.
- Guy’s Pig & Anchor has a bar with some good whiskeys and bourbons, and they brew their own beer on board. You can take a brewery tour, and I think it’s around $30.
- Bonsai Sushi is across the hall from the Alchemy Bar, and Fahrenheit 555, the steakhouse, is right there too.
- Bonsai Teppanyaki has just two hibachi tables, so it’s a small, intimate spot.
- The library is a quiet place to chill out with a book, though it’s often taken over by the Park West art folks.
Good to Know
Guy’s Pig & Anchor does double duty. During the day it’s buffet style barbecue, and in the evening there’s a sit down barbecue dinner for an additional fee.
Bonsai Teppanyaki only has two tables and offers three seatings per day, so if it’s on your list, plan ahead. Fahrenheit 555 and the teppanyaki were both closed when I walked through, so I could only peek in.
Deck 5 and Deck 4 together make up the heart of the ship, with the atrium spanning both. Stop by Pixels to pick out the photos taken of you during the cruise, and you can even peek down at the casino from up here.
