Join me for a walk around Bequia in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. We’ll start at the marina where the tender drops you off, follow the waterfront walkway past stores, cafes and rental houses, then climb the Princess Margaret Trail over to a beautiful beach where I finally got some beach time.

Key Takeaways

  • Bequia is a tender port, and the tender ride from Explora I took about 10 minutes.
  • The tender drops you at the marina, and you’ll see a Pizza Hut and a cool old church right near the dock.
  • Google Maps sent me up a road with no sidewalks that was definitely not right. The better route is to head down and walk right along the water.
  • The waterfront walkway is at sea level and the water comes right up over it, so wear sandals. I ended up with one wet shoe and one dry shoe.
  • Along the way there are stores, cafes, ice cream, Max Pizza Kitchen, Dive Bequia, the Greenhouse Cafe and a couple of places selling cannabis.
  • The Princess Margaret Trail climbs a lot of steep steps up and over the hill. It is not ADA accessible, but the view and the beach on the other side are worth it.
  • The beach has trees for shade, crystal clear warm water, a little restaurant, and chairs and umbrellas you can rent.

Good to Know

It was in the 80s and the sun was hot, with hardly any breeze. Bring water, especially if you’re doing the trail, and remember you have to climb those steps again on the way back.

Along the shoreline it’s very nice, with rental houses and homes right on the water, but it started off a little sketchy where I first walked. This is one of those places where you don’t venture more than a block or two off the water.

Bequia was a much nicer stop than Kingstown on the main island of St. Vincent. If you just want a pretty walk and a beach day without an excursion, you can do it all on foot here.
