Virgin Voyages, the much-anticipated cruise line from Sir Richard Branson, is set to sail into PortMiami in 2020 when the line’s first “Lady Ship” begins cruising.  When she arrives at her home port, she will be greeted by a brand new, visually stunning terminal.

Pending approval from the Board of Commissioners, construction will begin on the two-story structure that will include a VIP drop-off, ride sharing area, and check-in.  The terminal will serve as the first contact passengers, or “Sailors” as Virgin calls them, will have with the line, so setting the vibe for what lies ahead when they begin their unconventional journey is important.

Virgin chose the Miami-based architecture and design firm Arquitectonica, to spearhead the project.  The firm was behind projects such as the American Airlines Arena in Downtown Miami, Brickell City Centre Complex in Brickell and the Miami City Ballet in South Beach.

According to the line, the design of the cruise terminal will “highlight and emphasize those things people love about Miami and give a nod to the past in our unique Virgin way.”

From Royal Palm trees to the art deco design of the building, the terminal will certainly turn heads and set itself apart from the other terminals in the port – especially when lit at night.
