Let’s take a walk around Deck 18 on MSC World America, the ship’s Lido deck. We’ll start at the quiet Zen pool area at the aft, walk through the buffet, head out to the main pool, and finish inside the Botanic Garden pool with its retractable roof.

Key Takeaways

  • The Zen pool area at the aft is supposed to be nice and quiet, with its own bar and great views off the back of the ship.
  • We were docked at Ocean Cay, MSC’s private island in the Bahamas, where they’re working on yet another island. Rumor is it’s going to be for MSC’s luxury brand, Explora Journeys.
  • You can rent little private day beds near the Zen pools.
  • The buffet is on Deck 18, with lots of places to sit and Coca Cola Freestyle machines.
  • The main pool has a smoking side and a nonsmoking side.
  • At lunchtime there are burgers, fries and hot dogs, plus pizza, and there’s a bar with gelato.
  • The Botanic Garden pool is an indoor pool with a retractable roof, stadium seating for sun loungers and several hot tubs.
  • Take the stairs to the second level of the Botanic Garden pool for more seating, a bar and games like foosball and ping pong.

Good to Know

If you want to get away from the crowds, head aft to the Zen pool area. It’s meant to be the quiet spot on this deck, and the views off the back of the ship are great.

When the roof is closed in the Botanic Garden pool, it gets a bit steamy in there. It’s still a nice option with plenty of places to sit inside, and the larger hot tub is a good one to look for.

If smoke bothers you at the main pool, pay attention to which side you’re on, since one side allows smoking and the other side is nonsmoking.
