BIG UPDATE: Margaritaville at Sea Changes Its Casino Players Club October 1, 2026
If you’ve been using Margaritaville at Sea’s existing casino program, quite a bit changes on October 1, 2026. The familiar Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum names remain, but Margaritaville is changing how status is measured, introducing separate Tier Points and Reward Points, changing the qualification period, revising the tier thresholds and adding a much larger list of published benefits.
There are some very good changes here, especially for players who can reach Platinum. There are also a few things existing players need to watch closely, particularly the new 90-day expiration period for Reward Points and the fact that the old rolling qualification system is going away.

One Important Unknown: How Fast Will You Earn Tier Points?
This is one area where I would not assume the old casino math carries over. Margaritaville’s new terms separate Tier Points from redeemable Reward Points and specifically say the methods, formulas, rates, games and activities used to earn points may vary and can be changed by the company.
In other words, the old rule described earlier in this article for earning points on slot coin-in should not automatically be assumed to be the Tier Point formula after October 1. Margaritaville says current earning information will be provided through its website, onboard materials, casino personnel, promotional communications and other official channels.
The New Tier Benefits
The new program also comes with a much more clearly defined benefit chart. Bronze members receive the basic casino perks, while Silver is where the program starts adding substantial onboard benefits. Gold takes another sizable step up, and Platinum now includes several perks that make it look much more like a true casino VIP tier.

There are a couple of details buried in the fine print that are worth pointing out. Complimentary or discounted cruise offers, Free Play offers and exclusive promotions are still based on rated casino play and are issued at Margaritaville at Sea’s discretion. So reaching a certain tier doesn’t guarantee that every player receives identical casino offers.
The drink, dining, laundry and room-service package benefits are valid for the player plus one guest sailing in the same stateroom. The birthday benefit applies to sailings departing within 30 days before or after your birthday.
Gold Gets Harder, But Platinum Gets Much Easier
The tier changes are interesting because Margaritaville didn’t simply raise everything. Silver remains at 1,000 points. Gold increases substantially from 5,000 to 7,500 Tier Points, making that middle-upper tier harder to reach.
Platinum goes in exactly the opposite direction. The old cumulative requirement was 25,000 points, while the new published threshold is just 15,000 Tier Points. Assuming the new Tier Point earning rate is reasonably comparable to the old system, that could make Platinum considerably more attainable. The catch is that we don’t yet know enough about the new Tier Point earning formula to make a true apples-to-apples comparison.
Your Status Can Change During a Cruise, But Your Benefits May Not
The new terms also contain an important detail for anyone who crosses a tier threshold while onboard. Margaritaville says your Tier Status can be upgraded during the same sailing once the qualification requirement is reached and verified. However, some benefits associated with that newly earned tier may not begin until your next sailing or another time determined by Margaritaville.
So if you hit Platinum halfway through a cruise, don’t automatically assume you can walk directly from the slot machine to the host desk and immediately collect every Platinum perk on the chart.
The 90-Day Reward Point Rule Is the One I’d Watch Closely
The most player-unfriendly part of the new program may be Reward Point expiration. Reward Points expire just 90 days after the date they are earned, and playing again does not restart the clock on older Reward Points unless Margaritaville specifically provides otherwise.
That makes Reward Points something I would use rather than hoard. Tier Points are different: they remain part of your annual status calculation through the September 30 end of the Tier Earning Period and then reset when the new casino year begins.
What happens to your existing points and status?
This is still the big unanswered question. The October 1 terms explain how the new program will operate, but they do not spell out exactly how points accumulated under the old program will convert into Tier Points or Reward Points, or how existing Silver, Gold and Platinum members will transition into the new qualification year. Until Margaritaville publishes specific transition rules, I would not assume either a point-for-point conversion or that existing balances simply disappear.
Bottom Line
Overall, this is a much more structured casino loyalty program than Margaritaville at Sea had before. The separation of Tier Points and Reward Points makes it easier to understand what determines status versus what you can actually redeem, and the published benefits at Silver, Gold and especially Platinum are considerably more substantial.
But there are two big caveats. We still need the actual Tier Point earning formula before we can say whether reaching those new thresholds is truly easier or harder, and anyone earning Reward Points needs to remember that the new 90-day expiration clock is very short. For regular Margaritaville casino players, October 1 is definitely a date worth circling.
