During my 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Veendam, I stayed in a Lanai stateroom, number 317, located on the promenade deck. The Veendam Lanai Stateroom is a unique accommodation option that offers direct access to the Lower Promenade Deck, allowing guests to step outside and enjoy the fresh ocean air. The Lanai Stateroom can accommodate up to three guests and is approximately 181 square feet in size.

The Lanai Stateroom features a large sliding glass door that opens directly onto the Lower Promenade Deck, where guests will find teak deck chairs and loungers. The room itself includes a queen-size bed or two twin beds, depending on guests’ preference, with premium linens and bedding.

The Lanai Stateroom also features a seating area with a sofa, chairs, and a coffee table, as well as a flat-screen TV and DVD player. There is also a small refrigerator, safe, and hairdryer provided for guests’ convenience.

The bathroom in the Lanai Stateroom features a shower, sink, and toilet, with luxury toiletries, towels, and bathrobes provided for guests. The room is also equipped with individual climate control, allowing guests to adjust the temperature to their comfort level.

Guests staying in the Lanai Stateroom also have access to a range of onboard amenities, including the ship’s dining venues, entertainment options, and fitness center. They can also enjoy exclusive amenities, such as complimentary mimosas and Bloody Marys each morning, and priority dining reservations at the ship’s specialty restaurants.

The Main Dining Room is an elegant restaurant that features a grand staircase, chandeliers, and large windows that provide breathtaking views of the ocean. The menu offers a wide range of delicious dishes including seafood, steak, and vegetarian options.

The Crow’s Nest is a favorite lounge and bar situated on the top deck of the Veendam. It offers panoramic views of the ocean and is an ideal place to relax with a drink and watch the sunset. The Crow’s Nest also hosts various events including trivia games, live music performances, and dance parties.

The Explorations Cafe is a cozy coffee shop and library located on the Veendam’s lower deck. It serves a wide range of specialty coffees, teas, and pastries. The library features a variety of books and magazines, as well as comfortable seating areas where guests can read and relax.

The Veendam’s second pool is located in the ship’s spa area and is designed for guests seeking a more peaceful and tranquil swimming experience. This smaller, indoor pool is surrounded by lounge chairs and features a serene atmosphere with calming lighting and a soothing water feature.

In addition to the two swimming pools, the Veendam also features two hot tubs that provide a relaxing and rejuvenating soak for guests. The hot tubs are located adjacent to the Lido Pool and are an ideal spot for guests to unwind and enjoy the ocean views.

The ship’s specialty restaurants offer a more intimate dining experience with a focus on exceptional cuisine. The Pinnacle Grill is a steakhouse-style restaurant that serves premium beef, seafood, and other gourmet dishes. The Canaletto is an Italian-inspired restaurant that offers a delicious selection of antipasti, pasta, and seafood dishes.

For those who prefer to dine in the comfort of their own cabin, room service is available 24 hours a day. Guests can choose from a wide range of dishes, including breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, and desserts.
