Disney Magic Western Caribbean Cruise Review – Day 2: February 7, 2026

Our first full day aboard the Disney Magic is at sea, and not just any old sea day, a Marvel Day at Sea. As one of Disney’s signature offerings, this day is dedicated to all things MCU and is exclusive to Disney Cruise Line. It is only available on certain ships and seasonal sailings, so it generally brings a strong draw of comic fans.

While we’ve done Halloween on the High Seas, Very Merrytime, and of course the standard Pirate Night themed events, this is the first time we’ve done a Marvel sailing. If you want those hard-to-get character meet-and-greets or want to test your geekdom in a variety of Marvel trivia, then this is the day for you. Let’s see how many quotes and puns I can slip into today’s review. You’ve been warned, so save the eye rolls. 🙂

Marvel Day at Sea

As soon as you leave the stateroom, it’s as if you’ve traveled through the Bifrost into another dimension. The standard Disney music playing in common areas is replaced with familiar MCU tunes, setting the mood right away. Making your way through the Atrium and lower decks, they are filled with (Bruce) banners featuring all your favorite Avengers from across the realms.

Take a look through the daily activity guide at the bottom of this post, and you’ll see there is a constant barrage of character meets, trivia, and crafts. Trying to take them all in will quickly lead to Thor feet. While it’s not a full-on Comic-Con atmosphere, there are plenty of guests, young and old, dressed in their superhero best, waiting to meet their favorite characters.

With most of the lines wrapping through the halls, and some even requiring a reservation, I opted to do a quick walk-by and snap a picture between guest interactions. Not surprisingly, a few of the most popular were Spider-Man and Iron Man, and I couldn’t even get near enough for a decent picture without waiting in line. I’ll leave that for the kids. There were others that I didn’t get to, and a few unscheduled ones that appeared through Tao Mandalas. I’ll save you the Google search – Doctor Strange’s sparkly magic circles!

Not a bad lineup, but it’s not like we’re talking about RDJ and Scarlett Johansson. That I’d wait in line for.

All three theater venues were playing a steady flow of all things MCU. The Walt Disney Theater offered big-screen replays of Guardians of the Galaxy, Infinity War, and Endgame, while over in the Buena Vista Theater you could catch The Avengers, Black Panther, Iron Man, and Black Widow. Up on Funnel Vision, they had a steady stream of more kid-oriented animated MCU shorts and cartoons. All Marvel, all day.

I was planning to test my nerdom at a few of the trivia challenges, but it seemed like each time I bookmarked one, I was in the middle of doing something else. I’ll channel my inner Reed Richards and pat myself on the back, as I can say I walked past a few in progress and each time knew the answer to the current question.

If you needed a break from standing in lines, there were a few craft projects to make a souvenir, like Captain America’s shield, or learn to draw Groot. I saw quite a few youngsters proudly deflecting imaginary objects with their artwork!

They even had a recruitment drive for future heroes with the Avengers Training Initiative. Or at least Avengers-adjacent?

Time to Race Some Babies!

Unless you get bitten by a radioactive spider, you need to start your superhero training at a young age. The Little Hero Dash is a test of speed and endurance to rival Quicksilver. With parents placed at both the starting and finish lines and hordes of onlookers cheering them on, babies were matched up to see who could get there first. Or sit and drool while staring at everyone’s foolishness. You’d think there was Olympic gold on the line, the way the adults get into this, while the kids are clearly oblivious to why everyone is being so loud.

In case you’re wondering, like Scott was, they have spray disinfectant and Swiffer mops at the ready to clean up any “spills” that may occur between heats!

Believe it or not, this can be highly entertaining, as the saying goes: don’t act with infants or animals because you never know what they’ll do.

Later in the day, there was a costume meet-up in the Atrium for guests to show off their creativity. Groups were brought onstage and divided into categories of heroes or villains, followed by a few group photos. Not to be left out, Mickey and the gang joined in, dressed as their favorite characters too.

Palo Brunch on Disney Magic

With all that going on, we carved out some time for Palo Brunch, which remains one of the most consistently popular adult dining experiences across the Disney fleet, and the Magic is no exception. Brunch is typically offered only on sea days and availability is limited, so reservations tend to disappear quickly once booking windows open. Concierge guests have the earliest access, followed by Pearl and Platinum Castaway Club members, which means availability for Gold and Silver cruisers can be slim. If Palo Brunch is on your must-do list, this is one of those experiences you want to plan for early.

The experience itself is leisurely and indulgent, designed to be savored rather than rushed. Palo Brunch follows an all-you-care-to-enjoy format, with a menu that comfortably straddles breakfast, lunch, and classic Italian favorites. You’ll find everything from egg dishes and waffles to pizza, soups, antipasti, and heartier entrées like chicken parmesan and sirloin. The servers encourage sharing and ordering multiple plates, which is the best way to sample a wider range of the menu without committing to just one direction.

One thing Palo does particularly well is pacing. Shortly after being seated, your server will ask if you have plans afterward, which helps them tailor the flow of courses so the meal feels relaxed instead of overwhelming. Expect the experience to take a solid two hours or more, especially if you lean into the full brunch progression. It’s worth building in the extra time, as this is not a meal you want to squeeze in between activities.

At $55 per person, Palo Brunch isn’t inexpensive, but it remains one of the best values onboard when you consider the quality, service, and sheer amount of food offered. It’s rich, filling, and unapologetically indulgent. Plan on leaving full, very satisfied, and possibly in need of a quiet afternoon to recover.

A Marvelous Dinner

A repeat trip to Animator’s Palate for dinner featured a Marvel-themed selection. Each course took inspiration from the Phase 1 Avengers, with signature dishes presented in a comic book–styled menu.

With a three-page spread, there were ample choices for each course, making life choices difficult.

I started out with Captain America’s Crab Cake and Black Widow’s Sliced Smoked Salmon, while also stealing a bit of my wife’s Farmhouse Appetizer. Each was a great way to kick things off. The crab cake, in particular, stood out with chunks of crab and a not-too-heavy but firm texture.

For the entrée selection, it proved just as difficult. With a wide array of seafood, steak, chicken, and pasta dishes, this is a meal that really could have been served family-style in order to sample a bit of everything. I resisted ordering the entire menu but still picked a few dishes that leapt off the page: The Hulk’s Rosemary Roasted Beef Tenderloin and Scarlet Witch’s Ricotta Gnocchi. Cristiano even hooked me up with a lobster tail from Dr. Banner’s Lobster Salad!

They all SMASHED. The tenderloin was true to its name and required merely a butter knife to cut. Paired with the lobster, you can’t go wrong. It was missing drawn butter, but as it was intended to be on a salad, the lobster was served cold. I will say that while the gnocchi was delicious, it was a bit heavy when combined with everything else. Is that why some people only order a single entrée?

The desserts should have been listed under villains, as they tempted your inner demons. Luckily, we were able to conquer the End Game with a Ravagers’ Devil’s Food Cake, Southern Nights Cheesecake, and Flora Colossus Sapling.

The devil’s food cake was aptly named, as it was very sweet and rich in flavor, while the cheesecake was a bit more traditional, with a thick pecan nut crust. The Black Widow, or silent assassin, of the bunch, though, was the Colossus Sapling. Offering a light pistachio cake and strawberry crème, it really snuck up on you to steal your soul.

Mickey and Minnie’s Super Hero Celebration on Disney Magic

Before the main attraction of the evening kicked off, Mickey and Minnie’s Super Hero Celebration took place on the pool deck for another chance to see them in their hero attire and entertain. A short skit with a few poses and dance moves gave each a moment in the spotlight. The littles seemed to really enjoy this subdued show before things got real later on.

Stark Expo on Disney Magic

The true highlight of this day was the Stark Expo to conclude the adventure.  As Tony began revealing his newest technological breakthrough, the typical mayhem ensued.  With Loki, teaming up with Red Skull and Hydra, attempt to steal the new power source and attack the ship.  Not to worry, as the Avengers were called in thwart those attacks in an epic battle to save the day.

This wasn’t just a stage show with characters running around either.  They popped out of just about everywhere- even Spider Man scaling down the funnel and Captain Marvel swooping down from above (on a zipline).  This was a great combination of 360° action on stage combined with prerecorded scenes playing on the funnel vision showing all the action taking place around the ship decks as Hydra soldiers engaged in battle with our Heroes.  Add in some pyrotechnics and fireworks lighting up the sky; it culminated in a terrifically choreographed show.

One of the highlights that drew a collective “awe” from the audience was when they broke away to the Captain of the ship checking in on what was happening, played by none other than Stan Lee, RIP, making his trademark cameo.

Fret not, our heroes triumphed yet again, and it was smooth sailing from there! With appearances from most of the Phase 4 Avengers, it was a pretty impressive ensemble. Notably missing were the Hulk and Ant-Man. I imagine the costume requirements for Hulk, and potentially some IP contract restrictions, made his involvement difficult, and Ant-Man features on the Wish-class ships as part of their World of Marvel dining show.

This was an action-packed day from start to finish and a great alternative to the Pirate Night festivities that accompany most Caribbean sailings. While there were fewer fireworks, this show lasted just over a half hour and was nonstop all around you. I’d fully recommend checking out these special sailings, as they don’t come around often.

Beginning later this spring on the Disney Fantasy, you can take part in their Pixar Day at Sea, which will parallel the Marvel theme with all your favorite Pixar characters. While I’m sure that will be a huge draw as well, can we talk about bringing back the Star Wars Day at Sea, which was discontinued in 2022?

I’ll apologize in advance, as there will likely be a delay in the next post or two. We’ll be arriving in Progreso, Mexico, as I begin to do the Day 3 recap. For that port, we have an all-day excursion to Chichén-Itzá that will deliver us back right before all aboard and lead straight into dinnertime. I’m sure there will be plenty of pictures and notes to review, as this has been a bucket-list destination for me for quite some time.
