Carnival SEA Cruises: Adults Only Sailings Explained

Carnival has been quietly building a second kind of cruise, and it’s getting harder to ignore. The SEA sailings, short for Sailings Exclusively for Adults, started in 2025, and the line keeps adding more. Every guest has to be 21 or older to sail, so if you want a Carnival ship with a strictly grown up crowd, this is the one. Here’s what the program is, why people are booking it, and what the 2027 schedule tells you.

What is a Carnival SEA Cruise?

Carnival launched the program in 2025 with the Carnival Conquest, running a series of casino focused sailings out of Miami. The line has kept adding departures since then. For 2026, nearly 30 SEA cruises are part of the lineup from both Florida and Long Beach, CA.

Access is the part that trips people up. These sailings are only open to casino players and select members of Carnival Rewards, the line’s loyalty program. If you don’t gamble and aren’t in the program, these cruises aren’t really built for you.

Carnival’s pitch leans hard on gambling, and the numbers back that up. The first SEA sailings added four blackjack tables and 75 extra slot machines, along with an upgraded dining menu. Slots show up in spaces where you’d never normally expect to find one, and for a certain kind of guest that’s the whole appeal.

But don’t think the casino alone is what makes these cruises so popular.  The bigger draw is what the ship doesn’t have.

Carnival SEA Cruises are Kid-Free!

Anyone who’s cruised knows the routine. The hot tub is a bath full of kids, the pool is a splash zone, and the hallway at 3am sounds like the running of the bulls. Nobody is blaming a bored seven-year-old for running the halls, and most parents are doing their best. But after a couple of nights of being woken by a round of knock and run, plenty of adults decide a little peace is worth paying for. Add the door decorations that vanish by breakfast to that list, and the case for a kid free sailing makes itself.

A SEA sailing takes all that off the table. The hot tub is for adults, the hallways stay quiet at 3am, and the door decorations stay right where you put them.  Hopefully.

Virgin Voyages Proved the Market First

Carnival isn’t the first big name to bet on this. Virgin Voyages built its whole identity around adults only, and its ships welcome guests who are at least 18. Its first ship, Scarlet Lady, was set to debut in 2020, got held up by the pandemic, and went back into service in summer 2021. Virgin’s minimum age is three years younger than Carnival’s SEA cruises, but the concept is the same: when the whole ship is designed for grown ups, people will pay for it.

Carnival has its own grown up spaces too. Its Serenity decks are adults only, with a 21 and up rule, and a few Conquest and Splendor class ships once had adults only aft pools before those were opened to families. The line has had adults only areas for years. SEA cruises just turn the whole ship into a kids-free zone. Carnival has made it clear that it won’t become an adults only cruise line, so don’t think this is the start of some bigger overall change.

What the 2027 Schedule Looks Like

Here’s a look at Carnival’s 2027 published schedule of SEA cruises as of October 14, 2026.  Keep in mind, as time goes on additional sailings may be added:

If your idea of a good cruise involves a hot tub you can actually sit in and a hallway that stays quiet at 3am, an SEA sailing is worth a serious look. If the buffet and the character parade are the point of your trip, a regular Carnival sailing is still the better bet. I think SEA is the most interesting thing Carnival has done in years, and the no kids part is exactly why it works.

Can kids sail on SEA cruises?

No. Every guest has to be 21 or older to sail.

Is Carnival becoming an adults only cruise line?

Carnival says no. SEA is a set of specific sailings on a family brand, not a change to the whole company.

Can I get on an SEA cruise if I don't gamble?

Not usually. These sailings are only open to casino players and select members of Carnival Rewards, the line’s loyalty program.

How is SEA different from Virgin Voyages?

Virgin Voyages is adults only across its whole fleet, and its minimum age is 18. SEA is a program of select Carnival sailings, and the minimum age is 21.
