If you thought the Cat in the Hat was already a part of entertainment on Carnival ships, he’s about to get a little harder to miss.
Carnival is celebrating the November 6th release of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s The Cat in the Hat with movie-themed parties, kids’ activities, photo opportunities and a few surprises across 23 ships. The celebration runs during the two weeks leading up to the premiere, so this one’s a limited-time bonus for families sailing during that period.
But families cruising later on, don’t fret! Carnival is adding two new activities to its fleetwide Seuss at Sea program, giving kids and parents more ways to get involved beyond a character breakfast and short meet and greet.
Cat in the Hat Limited Time Events
The biggest addition is going to be up on deck, where select ships are welcoming passengers on embarkation day with a 40-foot Cat in the Hat inflatable.
Inside, The Cat’s Hollywood Debut Party brings the party to the atrium with a red-and-white striped premiere carpet, balloon drops, character appearances, crafts and family entertainment.
Some passengers may also get The Cat’s Secret Surprise, with special deliveries to select staterooms. Those can include themed postcards, snack packs, invitations to special meet-and-greets and other giveaways. The key word there is “select,” so don’t promise the kids anything.
The movie tie-in also includes:
- Seuss-themed Build-A-Bear workshops, featuring Thing 1 and Thing 2 shirts for bears and a specialty Cat in the Hat furry friend.
- Camp Ocean activities, including The Cat’s Messy Room Mission, The Cat’s Stacking Challenge and The Cat’s Rhyme-O-Rama.
- Movie-themed photo opportunities, including green screen experiences.
Availability and timing of these limited-time experiences vary by ship and sailing.
Two New Activities Join Seuss at Sea
The movie events have a limited run, but Carnival’s broader Seuss at Sea program is getting a couple of additions of its own.
First up is Seuss-a-palooza Game Time, an interactive activity in the main theater that gets things going before Seuss-a-palooza Story Time. Expect Dr. Seuss-inspired music, dancing, tongue twisters, games and challenges.
Then there’s Seuss-a-palooza Family Time, where families move like Seuss characters, act out scenes from the books and play Seuss-themed charades.
The additions join familiar offerings such as the Seuss-a-palooza character parade and Story Time, the Thing 1 & Thing 2 Birthday Breakfast and Dr. Seuss Bookville.
What Families Should Know Before Sailing
If you’re on a participating sailing during the movie celebration, there should be a few extra things to work into the family schedule. Just keep expectations flexible, as once again it’s important to note that availability and timing vary by ship and sailing.
Once you’re onboard, check the Carnival HUB app and the daily activity schedule for what’s actually happening on your cruise, including any reservation requirements or charges.
For families with younger Seuss fans, this gives an already familiar Carnival program a few fresh things to do together.
