Explora Journeys Fleet Guide 2026

Explora Journeys only has three ships carrying guests right now, but it’s growing fast. This Explora Journeys Fleet Guide is updated for October 2026 and covers all three ships currently in service, Explora I, Explora II and the brand new Explora III, plus the three ships still under construction at Fincantieri in Genoa.

Explora is MSC Group’s luxury brand, and every ship is built around the same idea: all oceanfront suites with private terraces, a crew-to-guest ratio that feels more like a boutique hotel than a cruise ship, and a fare that covers drinks, Wi-Fi, gratuities and most of the dining. Explora I and Explora II are near twins, so if you’ve sailed one you’ll find your way around the other in about five minutes.

Explora III is the one that changes things. Explora took delivery of her on July 23, 2026, named her in Barcelona on August 1 and sent her off on her first full voyage on August 3. She’s 19.2 meters longer than her sisters, carries 463 suites (two more than Explora I and II) and is the first Explora ship that can run on LNG. Explora IV and Explora V are due in 2027, with Explora VI wrapping up the six-ship plan in 2028.

This winter the fleet spreads out. Explora I and Explora III are both working the Caribbean and Central America, with Explora I heading down to South America and the Amazon early in 2027 and Explora III going through the Panama Canal to the Pacific Coast in spring 2027. Explora II stays in the Western Mediterranean for the winter after the line pulled her planned Middle East season.

Explora II

The second luxury ship in the fleet, acting as an identical twin sister to the Explora I. She continues the brand's commitment to refined, European-style luxury with expansive outdoor decks, 4 pools (including one with a retractable glass roof), and sophisticated lounges designed to offer a 'Home at Sea' experience.

Explora I

The highly anticipated vessel that launched the Explora Journeys brand in 2023. Built by Fincantieri in Italy, she is designed to feel more like a private luxury superyacht than a traditional cruise ship. She features 461 ocean-front suites (all with private terraces), 11 distinct culinary experiences, and an incredible space-to-guest ratio.

Explora III

The third ship in the fleet represents a major environmental milestone for the brand. She is the first Explora Journeys vessel to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), significantly reducing her emissions profile. While maintaining the exact same boutique luxury and size as her older sisters, her dual-fuel engines pave the way for a more sustainable future in luxury cruising.
