Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Carnival Celebration, is getting closer to its highly-anticipated debut in its homeport of PortMiami after successfully completing its first round of sea trials in the Baltic Sea. The ship sailed from Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland on Monday, September 5, where it underwent several tests to determine its capability and performance.
Capt. Vincenzo Alcaras reported that the ship performed exceptionally well during the sea trials, which included maneuvering tests like endurance, steering, speed, and thrusters tests. With its successful completion, the ship is now ready to set sail and start cruising.
Carnival Celebration’s arrival in Miami is a continuation of the cruise line’s 50th birthday celebration and will offer passengers a unique experience with several distinctive zones, including 820 Biscayne, a tribute to Miami and the birthplace of Carnival Cruise Line.
Passengers can also look forward to experiencing many of the popular features found on Carnival’s sister ship, Mardi Gras, including the first roller coaster at sea, BOLT: Ultimate Sea Coaster, an impressive three-deck atrium, and popular dining options like Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse and Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken restaurant.
Starting November 21, the Carnival Celebration will embark on its year-round, seven-day cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean from PortMiami, with its first voyage being a six-day trip to the Eastern Caribbean. The week-long voyages will visit exciting destinations like San Juan, Puerto Rico, Cozumel, Mexico, and Grand Turk.
