Holland America Line Westerdam 3-Day Bahamas Cruise Review

The Holland America Westerdam is a Panamax-sized cruise ship with a gross tonnage of 82,348. It has a length of 936 feet, a beam of 105.8 feet, and a maximum draft of 26.7 feet. The ship is powered by a diesel-electric propulsion system that consists of six diesel generators and two electric propulsion motors, which enable it to reach a maximum speed of 24 knots.

The Westerdam has a total of 11 passenger decks, which include 1,002 staterooms and suites, 85% of which have an ocean view and 67% have a private verandah. The ship has a maximum capacity of 1,964 passengers and 817 crew members.

Onboard amenities include multiple dining venues, bars, lounges, a casino, a theater, a spa, a fitness center, and a pool area. The ship also features a digital workshop powered by Microsoft, a Culinary Arts Center, and a variety of enrichment programs and activities for guests.

Itinerary:

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades):  Port Everglades is a seaport located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. It is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world and a major gateway for international trade. The port covers an area of approximately 2,190 acres and has 12 deep-water berths that can accommodate some of the world’s largest cruise ships. In addition to serving as a popular departure and arrival point for Caribbean and South American cruises, Port Everglades is also a major hub for cargo shipments, with facilities for handling containerized, refrigerated, and bulk cargo. The port is operated by the Broward County government and is home to numerous businesses, including shipping lines, stevedores, and marine service providers. It also has on-site customs and immigration facilities for processing international travelers.

Nassau, Bahamas:  Nassau is the capital city of the Bahamas, a country located in the Caribbean. It is located on the island of New Providence and has a population of approximately 274,000 people. Nassau is a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful beaches, clear waters, and colorful coral reefs. It also has a rich history, with many historical landmarks, such as the Fort Fincastle and the Queen’s Staircase, dating back to the colonial era. Other popular attractions in Nassau include the Atlantis Paradise Island resort, the Straw Market, and the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas. The city has a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round and experiences a rainy season from May to October.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas:  Half Moon Cay is a private island in the Bahamas that is owned by the Holland America Line, a cruise ship company. It is located about 100 miles southeast of Nassau and is used as a port of call for many of the company’s Caribbean and Bahamas cruises. Half Moon Cay is known for its pristine white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and diverse marine life. The island offers a variety of activities for visitors, including swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and horseback riding. It also has several dining options, bars, and shops for visitors to enjoy. The island has been designated as an international bird sanctuary, and visitors can observe a variety of bird species in their natural habitat. The Holland America Line has implemented various environmental protection measures on the island to preserve its natural beauty and ecology.
