Disney Magic Alaskan Cruise Review – Day 7: June 3, 2026

Our 7-Day Disney Magic Alaskan sailing is coming to a conclusion. The final day is spent at sea en route to Vancouver, with a day to relax and enjoy some of the activities offered around the ship. Let’s dive in, not literally though – that would be cold without a door to float on that can only fit one person!

The morning was spent in typical fashion – early morning coffee with Diogo in the Concierge Lounge. One of the first things that I noticed was that the internet wasn’t cooperating. Load times and refresh rates were uncharacteristically slow and glitchy. After fighting with it for a while, trying to upload pictures from our excursions, I ended up deciding to wait until we got home to finish the last few days’ recaps. Instead, we spent some time chatting with other guests about their experiences and comparing notes.

The main attractions for us got rolling after lunch. Two things that cry “final sea day on a Disney cruise.” First – churro Mickey waffles on the buffet line. Second – baby races in the Atrium! That’s right, it’s time for Jack-Jack’s diaper dash. For those of you not familiar with Jack-Jack, he originates from The Incredibles as the baby with a multitude of superhero powers, including lightning speed.

Taking center stage on the floor of the main Atrium is a mat lined with a race track. Parents looking to showcase their infants’ skills can sign up and are then placed in heats. With one parent holding them at the starting line while the other is awaiting them at the finish line, often with their favorite toy as bait, they encourage the littles to dash across the mat. Sometimes they cooperate, sometimes they just sit there and stare at all the big people wondering what’s going on.

As we took up a position along the railing on deck 5 overlooking the Atrium, we noticed our daughter and her group of friends standing right off from the action. To our surprise, they were enlisted by the entertainment team to help with a demonstration and explanation of the rules to get things going!

Always a good time for a laugh as the parents and onlookers are acting like it’s the Kentucky Derby while the infants don’t have a clue that they’re being used for everyone else’s entertainment. It got off to a rather auspicious start as the first race took almost 5 minutes. Instead of scampering down the mat, both babies decided to enjoy their time in the spotlight and just sit there without a care in the world.

What started slow picked up pace for the next few heats until finally a winner was crowned.

Next up was mid-afternoon bingo. I’ll save the suspense – we didn’t win anything. In hindsight, I should have grabbed a picture with a breakdown of buy-in options. I’ll try to remember to do that next time. We got the “Family Pack,” which consists of 2 electronic boards (iPads) and 2 boards of old-school paper inserted into plastic sleeves, making them reusable wipe boards. Each electronic board had 48 individual bingo cards that mark themselves as numbers are called. All you have to do is sit back and watch as they fill. They even reorganize themselves, moving the cards with the fewest remaining numbers to the top. The paper boards have 3 cards for each round to be played and are color-coded by game. The cost of this pack is $120 and gives the most chances.

The jackpot for the final game, blackout, was a whopping $7,500 and won by a single contestant!

Disney Dreams: An Enchanted Classic

Kicking off the evening in the Walt Disney Theater, we got an up-close and personal viewing of Disney Dreams – an Enchanted Classic. Becca wanted to sit closer to the stage than our usual, so I let her pick the seats. Row 3 center. With no worries of someone obstructing the view for the vertically challenged, we got a fantastic perspective. It was close enough that I caught a few cases of the actors trying really hard not to break character and laugh at what was likely an inside joke or a folly of someone missing their mark. At least twice I saw them doing that “don’t look at me or I’m going to start laughing” face.

While I still place Believe on the Dream-class ships as my favorite original shows on Disney Cruise Line, this show has a very similar storyline. I’ve described them both as a Dickensian tale and I just can’t think of a better way to put it. The premise is simple – a young girl that’s reaching the age where the line between magic and reality transitions. Instead of three ghosts, Peter Pan comes to take her on a journey to visit some of her favorite storybook characters while they reenact those signature pieces we all love. Along the way, the magic in her heart is reawakened before she falls into the trap of growing up.

The difference between the two shows is that this is seen from the young girl’s point of view, while Believe is from the father’s perspective. I thought maybe this would hit Becca more directly as she’s of that age herself. After it concluded, she said she really liked it, but upon comparison, she shared her preference for Believe. Maybe it’s because we’ve seen that one more, and that was one of the first she ever saw on DCL. Or maybe it’s because she knows that one always gets me?

But wait – there’s more! Immediately following the show, there was a special in Fathoms featuring Marlana Dunn. Remember back on day 5 when I mentioned the performance of Mother Gothel during Tangled – The Musical? That’s hardly the first time I’ve sung her praises either (yeah, I said it). To me, she’s been a show stealer for both her roles as Mother Gothel and Lady Tremaine on all three of our Disney Magic sailings. I’d rank her as the second-best individual performer – there’s no topping Moana – we’ve witnessed in our voyages. Well, this one-woman show encapsulates her prowess on the stage.

In this 45-minute show, she regaled us with stories of her career and the roles she’s played onstage and onscreen. She self-describes as “not a princessy girl” and how she always gravitated toward more villainous roles. Her most prominent being Mary Delgado in Jersey Boys, and she brings the New Jersey sass one would expect. Performing classics like “Anything Goes,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” and of course “Mother Knows Best” and more, she kept the audience glued to their seats.

In a little bonus, as I was on my way into Fathoms, I met Jessica Jane. Trying not to fanboy too much, I chatted with her briefly and then got a quick selfie with her. To my surprise, she was also on her way to watch Marlana and sat a few seats down from me along with Hiba and Ainsley. I was fortunate enough to get a picture with all three of them after the show.

Becca also got to meet Jessica the night before in an elevator bank. Not only did she take pictures with them, but she taught them a magic trick! She was extremely approachable and took time to talk with a number of guests while taking photos and signing autographs. She has the same energy off the stage as she does during shows. It’s not an act, just who she is.

Our final dinner brings us back to Animator’s Palate. The second evening on 7-day sailings features the popular Animation show. Upon arriving at your table, you find a sheet of paper with the outline of a character, like a chalk outline at a crime scene. Each diner can then draw or color in a creative caricature.

After they’re collected by the service teams, they get scanned into animation software. During the dessert service, the pictures all appear on the video screens in a short presentation of dancing and frolicking. Excited shouts can be heard across the dining room as kids point out their artwork.

While there’s a scattering of decent options on this menu, it’s not near the top of my list. The salmon gravlax was an easy choice for an appetizer, but I think I’ve had some variation of this three times already this week. I followed that up with the Beef Wellington.

As I was still kicking myself a bit for missing last night’s lobster tail, I inquired about the possibility of one landing on a plate. While it’s very common on DCL to order items off-menu from another MDR, there are a few items that are generally a no-go. This is obviously due to stock quantity limitations for the specialties such as lobster tails. Cristiano said he’d see what he could do, but that it was above his head and made no promises, to which I exclaimed I completely understood. If he could – great, if not – no harm in asking. As the meal went on without further mention, I figured the chef threw down a chopping knife as I enjoyed my steak. Then out of the blue, Kendall walked over with a covered plate. Setting it down, I got a fist bump and a “you didn’t get this from me.” With a little pixie dust sprinkled, he lifted the lid to reveal a gorgeous lobster tail just waiting to be devoured! To be honest, I didn’t even take time to get a picture as I dug in so there’d be no evidence of this transgression! I’ll just say – it was fantastic!

To be clear – they really went out of their way to make this happen and shouldn’t in any way be taken for granted that it could happen every time. It’s indicative of how the service teams will go to great lengths to accommodate in any way they can.

The dessert options included a few new items, as in the past couple of nights. One being the Orchard Peach Tart. We decided to give that a try to share along with the standby Chocolate Decadence. Cristiano decided to add another of his favorites, the Celebration Cake, to sample as well. You can never go wrong with the Chocolate Decadence – it’s very rich but not too heavy. We each tried a few bites of the Peach Tart and weren’t overly impressed. I have to give Cristiano his due on the Celebration Cake, though. Light and fluffy cake layered with just a slender strip of cheesecake and strawberries. Where the richness of the chocolate hit a bit harder, this was a great, light way to end the meal.

With our final dinner complete, it was back to the room to pack up and prepare for the inevitable morning departure.

I’ll do a final recap tomorrow in which we’ll take a quick look at some of the new policies that DCL announced this week, reflect back on this sailing – what we liked, what could’ve been better, and what we’d do differently – along with some answers to frequently asked questions for Alaskan itineraries.

As it seems usually happens, I saved the last few days’ reviews until we returned home – with good intentions to knock them out quickly. Then life happens and we’re home a week before the final installments get published. I hope it’s been worth the wait and, as always, we appreciate you following along!
