One of the attractions you have to check out in St. Thomas is the Skyride to Paradise Point. It’s just a short walk from the cruise port, and the gondola takes you all the way up the side of the mountain for some spectacular views of the harbor. Come along for the ride up, and stick around to see a photo I recreated from my very first cruise.

Key Takeaways

  • The Skyride is just a short walk from the cruise port in St. Thomas.
  • It’s a gondola that carries you about 700 feet up the side of the mountain to Paradise Point.
  • It cost $25 per person when I rode it.
  • The ride takes about three and a half minutes up and three and a half minutes back down.
  • From the top you can see the harbor, all the yachts parked down below and your cruise ship.
  • There’s a restaurant up top where you can grab a drink and something to eat.
  • My first cruise was back in 1994 on Royal Caribbean’s Sovereign of the Seas, and I had my picture taken in this same spot at Paradise Point, so I had to recreate it.

Good to Know

Since it’s so close to the cruise port, the Skyride is an easy thing to fit into a port day in St. Thomas without booking a big excursion. Get your camera out once you’re up there and take plenty of pictures. On a clear day, you can even see other islands out in the distance.

Don’t rush it at the top. Soak up the view, grab a drink at the restaurant and enjoy looking down at the ships in the harbor before you ride back down.
