Navigator of the Seas 2019 drydock highlights from Royal Caribbean: new pool deck, waterslides, restaurants, bars and short Bahamas getaways from Miami.

This one is Royal Caribbean’s own highlight video, which I shared back in March 2019 when Navigator of the Seas came out of drydock in its new home port of Miami. Royal Caribbean’s team walks through what’s new after the $115 million makeover, from the pool deck and waterslides to new restaurants, bars and a blow dry bar, plus the short getaway cruises the ship was set up for.

Key Takeaways

  • Royal Caribbean put over $115 million into Navigator of the Seas, and the ship’s new home port is Miami.
  • The pool deck got a big upgrade, with more water, water added up on the sun deck and two new whirlpools.
  • The Lime and Coconut, an outdoor Caribbean bar, anchors one side of the pool deck, with El Loco Fresh tacos, burritos and quesadillas and Johnny Rockets Express burgers and fries on the other.
  • There’s a new set of slides: The Blaster, a two person tube aqua coaster with a translucent section that hangs out over the edge of the ship, and Riptide, a mat racer.
  • Hooked Seafood and Jamie’s Italian were added to go along with Chops Grille and Izumi.
  • The Royal Promenade gets new energy with the Bamboo Room for craft cocktails and Playmakers with its TVs.
  • Navigator debuted Royal Caribbean’s very first blow dry bar, where you can get a glass of champagne and a quick polish change and be ready for the evening in about 30 to 45 minutes.

Good to Know

Just so you know, I didn’t film this one. It’s Royal Caribbean’s own video from March 2019, so everything here is what the ship looked like right after that refurbishment. Venues and itineraries can change over the years, so check what’s on board before you book.

At the time, Navigator was set up for three and four night sailings to Perfect Day at CocoCay. On the weekend cruise they describe, you board on a Friday afternoon, spend Saturday at Perfect Day, call on Nassau on Sunday and you’re back Monday morning. Royal Caribbean calls it the ultimate weekend.

If you love waterslides, The Blaster is the one to look for. Royal Caribbean admits that part hanging out over the side of the ship might freak you out a little, but that’s kind of the point.
