Come along with me for a walk around Deck 8 on MSC World America, which is both indoors and out. We’ll start outside on the World Promenade with Paxos, the sports bar, the Lanai and Sweet Temptations, then head inside for Fizz, The Loft, The Gin Project, the World Galleria, Elixir and Eataly.

Key Takeaways

  • The World Promenade is open to the sky with staterooms overlooking it, a lot like the Boardwalk on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis class ships.
  • Paxos Greek Taverna serves Mediterranean food with indoor and outdoor seating, plus a Paxos to go window for a quick bite.
  • The All Star Sports Bar has bar food and self service beer, and the big dry slide from the top of the ship ends right outside on Deck 8.
  • The Lanai has two outdoor sections, one nonsmoking and one smoking, with great views all around.
  • Sweet Temptations has bulk candy, make your own sundaes, crazy milkshakes and gelato, and Promenade Bites has popcorn and hot dogs.
  • Fizz is all about champagne, and The Loft is where they do live music and standup comedy.
  • The Gin Project sits above the Masters of the Sea pub on Deck 7 and only serves gin, with no seats at the bar itself.
  • There are no Swarovski crystal staircases in the public areas on World America. The only one is in the Yacht Club.

Good to Know

This ship is huge. I started filming around 10:00 in the morning and by 11:23 I’d only covered Decks 6, 7 and 8, which is why I broke these tours up by deck. Give yourself time to explore.

The Gin Project is a little quirky to get in and out of. One way is a dead end, and the other is the spiral staircase down into Masters of the Sea. And if you want whiskey or beer, go somewhere else. Elixir, the mixology bar just down the deck, is a good spot for whiskey.

Eataly has an open kitchen so you can watch your dinner being prepared. MSC calls it the first Eataly at sea, even though MSC Divina had Eataly venues in the past. I had a fantastic dinner there.
