MSC Beverage Package Calculator
When planning your MSC Cruises vacation, one of the big questions is whether it’s worth adding the cruise line’s beverage package—officially called the Premium Extra Package. If you’re searching for details on the Easy or Easy Plus packages, those were discontinued in December 2024, leaving just one beverage package option to keep things simple.
When you book your cruise, you’ll often have the option to bundle WiFi and the Premium Extra beverage package with your fare. This can offer some savings compared to purchasing the $85 per person, per day package separately. That said, some cruisers prefer to book the base fare and add the beverage package later. If you go that route, it’s usually cheaper to buy it in advance through the MSC Cruise Planner rather than waiting until you’re onboard. Promotions and discounts can vary, so check your online cruise planner or ask your travel agent for current offers.
If you’re staying in the Yacht Club, good news—your cruise fare already includes both WiFi and the Premium Extra Package, so there’s no need to buy them separately. However, if you originally book a non-Yacht Club stateroom and prepay for WiFi or the drink package, then later win an upgrade to Yacht Club, MSC won’t refund you for those add-ons. Just something to keep in mind when placing your upgrade bids.
What’s Included in MSC’s Beverage Package?
The Premium Extra Package is available on all MSC Cruises sailing from the United States and is priced at $85 per person, per day. With this package, you can enjoy a wide selection of beverages priced up to $16 each, available at nearly every bar, restaurant, and venue onboard. Whether you’re sipping a latte in the morning or unwinding with a cocktail at sunset, it’s all included—coffee, cocktails, wine, beer, soft drinks, and more.
If you want to enjoy a beverage priced more than $16, you simply pay the difference. So an $18 drink will cost you $2.
Here’s what’s included with the Premium Extra Package:
- Premium-brand spirits, liqueurs, and cordials
- Wines and Champagne by the glass
- High-end cocktails
- Draft and bottled beers
- Specialty coffee, tea, and hot chocolate
- Fruit juices and smoothies
- Soft drinks
- Still or sparkling water
- All non-alcoholic beverages, including mocktails and non-alcoholic beers
This package truly covers it all—and the best part? You can use it at specialty restaurants, buffets, bars, and even on Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC’s private island. That’s a big perk, especially since some cruise lines like Carnival and Holland America don’t extend drink package privileges to their private destinations.
The Premium Extra Package also includes a 25% discount on bottled wine and Champagne purchased on board, and gratuities are included, so you won’t be hit with any surprise fees when ordering a drink.
As of April 1, 2025, a new policy limits guests to 15 alcoholic beverages per day under the package. Don’t worry—non-alcoholic drinks remain unlimited. If you hit your 15-drink cap, you can still order an alcoholic beverage (as long as the bartender doesn’t consider you visibly intoxicated), but it will be charged at full menu price.
The package is valid at all onboard bars and dining venues, as well as Ocean Cay, with a few exceptions. It does not apply at specialty venues like Venchi 1878, Jean-Philippe Maury, or the Starship Club on MSC Virtuosa. And like all things at sea, terms and conditions are subject to change, so be sure to check the latest details before you sail.
What Isn’t Included in MSC’s Beverage Package?
There are some exceptions, but they are rare. The Premium Extra package does not cover drinks at signature venues such as Venchi 1878, Jean-Philippe Maury, or the MSC Virtuosa Starship Club. Again, these are also subject to change.
Is the MSC Beverage Package Worth It?
If you landed here, you’re probably trying to figure out whether the Premium Extra Package is worth it—and that’s exactly what our MSC Cruises Beverage Package Calculator is here to help with. Just enter how many drinks you think you’ll enjoy each day—coffee, wine, cocktails, water bottles, smoothies, whatever—and we’ll do the math to see if the package makes financial sense for your cruise.
If you’re someone who loves to sip and sample throughout the day, there’s a good chance the package will more than pay for itself. But if you’re more of a “couple drinks and I’m good” cruiser, you might come out ahead just paying as you go.
The calculator uses average onboard beverage prices as of July 2025. The $85 per person, per day price of the Premium Extra Package includes the 18% gratuity, but the calculator results do not, so keep that in mind—gratuities are still expected for individual purchases if you skip the package.
