Marie McCrea Named Godmother of Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas

Royal Caribbean International’s search for the Godmother of the latest addition to their fleet, Wonder of the Seas, has finally come to a close. The lucky winner, Marie McCrea, was nominated by her daughter, Allie, as part of the #SearchforWonderMom TikTok contest. Marie, who hails from Pennsylvania, was chosen for her inspiring story as a devoted mom, wife, and cancer survivor.

Michael Bayley, the President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, expressed his admiration for all of the nominees and the stories that were submitted as part of the contest. With over 16,000 videos submitted and 10.6 billion #SearchforWonderMom hashtag views, the task of choosing the ultimate Wonder Mom was no easy feat. Nevertheless, Marie’s story stood out among the rest, and she was chosen for her embodiment of the spirit of Wonder of the Seas.

The world’s newest wonder now has its Wonder Mom. Following a widespread TikTok search that saw 16,000 videos submitted, Royal Caribbean has selected Pennsylvanian Marie McCrea as Wonder of the Seas’ Nominated by her daughter, Marie is a devoted mother, wife and cancer survivor who has overcome adversity with incredible strength. She will accept the honor of blessing Wonder during a celebratory naming ceremony at its first year-round homeport of Port Canaveral, Florida, on Dec. 9, 2022.

As part of a long-standing maritime tradition, Marie’s blessing as Godmother will ensure the safety and well-being of the ship, its crew, and the families who will make memories on board in the years to come. To celebrate this honor, Marie and her family will embark on an exclusive, invite-only naming ceremony cruise that visits Royal Caribbean’s private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay. Additionally, they will enjoy a 7-night Caribbean cruise and stay in the Ultimate Family Suite, which features unique amenities such as an in-suite slide, cinema, karaoke room, and more. The family will also be treated to five-star hotel accommodations, first-class flights, and spending money to round out their unforgettable family vacation.

Marie expressed her excitement and gratitude for being chosen as the Godmother of Wonder of the Seas. She said, “This is a tremendous honor, and I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve as the Godmother for Wonder of the Seas.”

The reveal of Wonder’s Godmother comes after the largest cruise ship in the world’s first arrival into Port Canaveral on November 13, 2022. The ship, part of Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class lineup, is equipped with a range of experiences and amenities across eight unique neighborhoods. From the Suite Neighborhood to over 40 restaurants, bars, and lounges, there is something for everyone on board. Returning favorites include The Ultimate Abyss, FlowRider surf simulator, and rock climbing walls, as well as new areas designed specifically for kids and teens. Additionally, the ship features original entertainment across four “stages” including air, ice, water, and theater.

Marie McCrea’s journey to becoming the Godmother of Wonder of the Seas is a testament to her strength and the memories she has inspired and created with her family.
