With the 2018 Winter Olympics underway in PyeongChang, all eyes seem to be on figure skating. In fact, figure skating happens to be one of the most popular sports of the Olympic games.
Apologies to the curling fans out there!
Besides watching the Olympics on TV, or grabbing tickets to Disney on Ice, there are not too many places to see this type of entertainment. Unless you’re on a cruise.
Now ice skating isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about what entertainment is available on a cruise ship, but on Royal Caribbean, it’s one of the many options.
Over 10 ships in the Royal fleet feature the line’s Studio B ice skating rink where you can watch shows put on by professional skaters, or put on a pair of skates and take a lesson. You’ll need to wear a helmet and long pants and can bring your own skates or use ones provided to you, should you want to hit the ice.
If you prefer to leave the fancy footwork to the pros, Studio B is the place to grab a seat and take in one of the Broadway-style ice skating shows in a theatre-in-the-round environment where you’re up close and personal with the skaters. Lavish costumes, dazzling projections, and a thrilling musical score set the stage for a performance you wouldn’t expect to see at sea!
Check out what it’s like to put on one of these ice skating shows at sea with a behind-the-scenes look at Studio B and see what goes into keeping the ice in top-shape in these two videos.
