Big news out of Celebrity Cruises today. The line officially took delivery of its newest ship, Celebrity Xcel, and at the same time revealed the name of its next Edge-Class vessel — Celebrity Xcite — as steel cutting is officially underway at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. Xcite is set to make her debut in 2028.
Celebrity Xcel: Ready to Set Sail
Celebrity Xcel is the fifth ship in the Edge Series and was handed over from the shipyard today and is now gearing up for her first season of sailings from Fort Lauderdale starting in November. She’ll run seven-night Caribbean itineraries, alternating between ports like The Bahamas, Mexico, the Cayman Islands, Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten.
Then in summer 2026, she’ll head across the Atlantic for her first European season, offering 7- to 11-night Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona and Athens, with overnight stays in Madeira, Portugal.
While we don’t have all the details yet, Celebrity says Xcel will feature seven brand-new spaces so expect those pesky influencers to be posting plenty of pics on Instagram when she welcomes her first guests next month.

Introducing Celebrity Xcite: The Next One Up
Hot on Xcel’s heels, construction is underway on her sister ship, Celebrity Xcite. The name was officially unveiled during a steel-cutting ceremony at Chantiers de l’Atlantique — the same shipyard that built every Edge-Class vessel so far.
Celebrity Xcite will be the sixth Edge-Series ship, and while details are still under wraps, she’s expected to build on everything fans love about her predecessors.

She’s slated to set sail in 2028 and more details on where she will call home and what itineraries she will sail will be announced at a later date.
