Carnival Cruise Line, the world’s largest cruise line, has just announced they’ve signed an agreement with Meyer Werft shipyard to build another Excel-class ship, scheduled to debut in 2028. This addition marks the fifth vessel in the highly popular Excel-class fleet for Carnival Cruise Line, and the 11th for the corporation as a whole, as this class of ship is also in service on their other brands including P&O Cruises, AIDA Cruises, and Costa Cruises.
This announcement comes hot on the heels of Carnival Corporation’s earlier news in February of a deal to order a 4th ship, the first new ship order in five years.
The Excel-class has quickly become a favorite amongst cruisers, and with good reason. These ships boast a wide array of amenities, entertainment options, and modern accommodations. Whether you’re seeking heart-pounding thrills on Bolt, the first seagoing roller coaster, or prefer to unwind at the luxurious Cloud 9 Spa, an Excel-class ship caters to every vacation style.
All ships in the Excel-class are powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), a cleaner-burning fuel that helps to reduce emissions and minimize the environmental impact.
While specific details about the new ship are still under wraps, we can expect it to follow in the footsteps of its successful siblings. With a capacity of over 6,400 passengers, this vessel will offer an abundance of space for guests to spread out, socialize, and create lasting memories. Imagine indulging in delectable cuisine at a variety of restaurants, catching a Broadway-caliber show in the theater, or soaking up the sun by the expansive pool deck. The possibilities are truly endless!
This new ship is just one piece of Carnival Cruise Line’s larger strategic growth plan. The company aims to add one to two ships per year starting in 2027, providing even more options and flexibility for potential cruisers.
So, start dreaming about your next adventure! With the addition of this new Excel-class ship, Carnival Cruise Line is setting sail for a future filled with even more fun, innovation, and unforgettable memories at sea.
