Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has just announced an exciting new addition to its entertainment offerings aboard its newest ship, Norwegian Viva. “Beetlejuice” The Musical, a 90-minute Broadway adaptation of Tim Burton’s iconic 1988 film, will headline the ship’s onboard entertainment lineup when it debuts in August 2023.
This marks the first time the Tony Award®-nominated musical will be performed at sea, and it promises to be a spectacular production. The show will be performed in NCL’s three-story multi-purpose Viva Theatre & Club, which boasts immersive special effects and cutting-edge lighting and audio, providing the perfect setting for this captivating performance.
David J. Herrera, incoming president of Norwegian Cruise Line, spoke of the company’s commitment to pushing the envelope and delivering high-caliber entertainment programming that guests expect. NCL’s Senior Vice President of Entertainment and Cruise Programming, Richard Ambrose, also expressed pride in the company’s ability to introduce guests to Broadway and West End-caliber shows, which are made even more special by the incredible setting of the Viva Theatre & Club.
In addition to “Beetlejuice,” Norwegian Viva will also offer other exciting entertainment options, including the cruise industry’s first “Press Your Luck LIVE” at-sea game show and “Ocean Music Fest,” a jam session featuring multiple musicians on one stage. Returning guest favorites such as “Improv @ Sea” Comedy Club and “Syd Norman’s Pour House” will also be available.
Norwegian Viva is the second of six vessels in NCL’s highly anticipated Prima Class, the brand’s first new class of ships in nearly a decade. The ship will prioritize guest experience and raise the bar on cruising through world-class cuisine, the brand’s most spacious design yet, and stellar onboard activities including the Viva Speedway – a three-level racetrack. The ship boasts nine new dining and beverage options, including the upscale food market Indulge Food Hall, and Hudson’s, a complimentary restaurant overlooking 270-degrees of ocean views. Additionally, guests can enjoy the fastest slides at sea, The Drop and Rush, and NCL’s industry-exclusive sustainable cocktail bar with Metropolitan Bar.
Norwegian Viva will sail a selection of bucket-list-worthy Greek Isles and Mediterranean voyages through November before homeporting in San Juan, Puerto Rico in December for a season of Caribbean itineraries. NCL’s unwavering commitment to delivering world-class productions and entertainment will undoubtedly make this ship and its onboard offerings an experience to remember.
