This week, Joe Palko is guest blogging from the Carnival Cruise Line ship, Carnival Paradise. Joe left on October 22, 2015 for a four day cruise out of Tampa, FL where there will be one port call, Cozumel, Mexico.
In his Day 1 report, Joe shared pictures of his stateroom and discussed embarkation. If you haven’t read it, be sure to check it out by clicking here. As a side note, not all the photos Joe has sent have made it to the blog. Be sure to follow Scott’s Cruise Pix at @scottscruises on Instagram for all the pictures from this cruise as well as more than 1,000 photos from my time spent at sea.
Without further ado, here’s the Day 3 report from Joe from the Carnival Paradise:
Overall, there is nothing spectacular about this port. But that’s pretty common with most of the Caribbean as you know.
We ventured off ship for a little bit to explore and came back as there isn’t too much to do here unless you sign up for shore excursions, which we did not. We walked about for a while and enjoyed a mostly empty ship as many people are ashore.
We hit up The Punchliner Comedy Club last night and saw a comedian by the name of Mike Macy. He was phenomenal! In fact, he’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever seen. It was a great show and he kept us laughing during his entire skit.
As far as food is concerned, I can understand why people comment about Carnival having lousy food. I find it incredibly inconsistent. Last night, dinner was just “OK.” Some things taste really great. Others have very little taste. Overall, the food is “decent” as best. It still doesn’t compare to other cruise lines, but when you consider the price it’s good.
A few notes on dinner, The “Jumbo Shrimp” was rather disappointing as the portion was very small for a dinner size. Everyone at our table who had the tilapia said it was terrible and had a very strong “fishy” taste to it. The seafood ravioli got good reviews and the prime rib that I had was OK. It wasn’t great, and it wasn’t awful, it was just OK.
Side note, I don’t understand why I see so many people putting room service trays of food in the hallways outside their doors. On other cruise lines I see it every now and then, on Carnival, I see it everywhere and I don’t understand why.
As far as food in the hallways, when I was on the Carnival Liberty I saw it a lot. I see it somewhat on Royal Caribbean, and hardly ever see it on Holland America. So, it is something people do, but I don’t understand why they just can’t leave it in their stateroom and call to have it picked up. Nobody wants to be walking back to their room and look down to see a half-eaten pastrami sandwich and a dirty napkin on the floor.
Personal Day-By-Day Carnival Paradise Cruise Review:
Photo Tour of the Carnival Paradise:
No vacation would be complete without a ton of photos, right? For this particular cruise, I took a bunch of photos of the ship’s interior, pool areas, the stateroom itself, and more. Photos can be found in the Carnival Paradise Photo Tour as well as in the day-by-day review of the cruise at the links above.
