MSC Cruises continues to expand their fleet, and today they announced an order for two additional World Class ships that will enter service in 2029 and 2030.  Currently referred to as World Class 5 and World Class 6, the ships will be built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in France and will accommodate more than 6,700 guests, making them some of the largest cruise ships in the world.

I recently returned from the inaugural sailing of the second World Class ship, MSC World America which made her debut in April 2025 and cruises the Caribbean from Miami.  The World Class ships can easily be compared to Royal Caribbean’s wildly popular Oasis-class ships in design and also amenities, which shows that MSC is serious about attracting more family cruisers as these ships have expansive water parks, multiple pools, wet and dry slides, and other attractions such as the Cliffhanger on MSC World America.

MSC World America 7-Day Eastern Caribbean Cruise Review – Day 1: April 12, 2025

Current World Class Fleet:

  • MSC World Europa – the first in the class, now sailing in Europe
  • MSC World America – debuted in April 2025 and sails the Caribbean from Miami
  • MSC World Asia – set to launch in late 2026, offering itineraries in Europe
  • MSC World Atlantic – scheduled to join the fleet in 2027, operating from Port Canaveral, Florida.

With orders for these two additional ships just signed, it’s too early to speculate as to where they will call home, what itineraries they will have, and what amenities they will offer.  As seen in the evolution of different cruise ship classes, tweaks are made to each iteration based on guest and crew feedback, so we will have to stay tuned as time goes on to see how these two additional ships, which may very well be the last in this class, differ in terms of amenities and interior layout, as their predecessors.
