Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) is making a significant move toward the future with the confirmation of a new ship order from Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. Initially announced as a Letter of Intent in April 2024, the agreement has now been finalized, paving the way for the construction of four brand-new cruise ships for the NCL fleet. These vessels will be the largest ever built for the brand, marking a new chapter in Norwegian’s expansion.

Each of these new ships will come in at approximately 226,000 gross tons, surpassing anything currently in NCL’s fleet. They will be constructed at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard, with deliveries scheduled for 2030, 2032, 2034, and 2036.

With over 5,100 berths, these vessels will be capable of accommodating more than 8,300 guests and crew combined. While specific details about onboard features and amenities have not yet been revealed, Norwegian has emphasized that the ships will be designed with the latest advancements in comfort, technology, and sustainability.

Fincantieri and NCL have an established relationship, having already delivered two ships for the cruise line—Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva. The shipbuilder is also preparing to deliver Norwegian Aqua, the first of the Prima Plus Class, in the coming months. In addition to this latest order, three more NCL ships are currently in various stages of design and construction.
