Virgin Voyages is shaking up the cruise industry once again with its latest partnership with the World Poker Tour (WPT). This cruise line has announced the creation of the exclusive “WPT at Sea” Poker Room, an industry first. This standing poker venue will be located on the Scarlet Lady, which offers four and five-night cruises departing from Miami.
Utilizing eight custom poker tables and staffed with professional dealers, the poker room will offer beginner training, cash games, satellites, and WPT Prize Package tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $80 to $320. And as another industry first, the WPT at Sea Poker Room will offer a seamless experience with cashless participation, allowing all transactions to be easily handled on Sailors’ wearable devices.
The main event, a $320 buy-in “WPT at Sea” tournament, will be held during each sailing. Depending on the number of participants, the tournament may award a WPT prize package valued at $5,000, which can be used on any future voyage or WPT event.
Virgin Voyages CEO Tom McAlpin says, “As a new brand with an innovative spirit, we’ve been fortunate to introduce many industry firsts, including our partnership with the World Poker Tour and WPT at Sea. Our adult-only, premium experience offers an incredible backdrop, not only for a great vacation but also as an oasis for the WPT in a way never seen before.”
WPT CEO Adam Pliska adds, “Scarlet Lady provides the perfect residence for WPT at Sea, which will bring the WPT poker experience to the high seas.”
Poker enthusiasts and cruise lovers alike can now enjoy a world-class poker experience while sailing aboard the Scarlet Lady. The WPT at Sea Poker Room promises to be a game-changer for the cruise industry, and we can’t wait to see what other innovative partnerships Virgin Voyages has in store.
