Carnival Cruise Line is ending its 50th birthday celebration with a bang as it takes delivery of its newest Excel-class ship, Carnival Celebration. The ship, which is the sister ship to Mardi Gras, was signed over in a ceremony at Meyer Turku in Turku, Finland, attended by Carnival President Christine Duffy, Carnival Senior Vice President of New Builds Ben Clement, and CEO of Meyer Turku Tim Meyer.

Carnival Celebration is the second ship in the groundbreaking Excel-class and promises to offer guests a world-class cruising experience from the moment they step on board. With its three-deck-high atrium and various dining and beverage concepts spread across six themed zones, including the Miami-inspired 820 Biscayne and the travel-themed The Gateway, guests will be in for a treat. The ship also features the award-winning BOLT roller coaster.

Tim Meyer, CEO of Meyer Turku, described Carnival Celebration as one of the most technologically advanced and environmentally-friendly ships in the fleet. He added that he was proud of the results of this great partnership.

Carnival Celebration will arrive at its homeport of PortMiami on November 20, after a 14-day transatlantic journey from Southampton, England. A naming ceremony will be held that evening to celebrate Carnival’s past and to look ahead to its exciting future.

Carnival Celebration will be able to accommodate more than 5,200 guests and will operate Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries year-round. The week-long voyages will visit destinations like San Juan, Puerto Rico, Cozumel, Mexico, and Grand Turk.

Carnival Celebration will join sister ship Mardi Gras as the second Carnival ship in the fleet with a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) propulsion system, as part of Carnival Corporation’s green cruising platform.

Debuting from the redesigned Terminal F at PortMiami, Carnival Celebration promises to be a spectacular new option for guests sailing from Miami.
