Get ready to welcome a new star to the cruise world – Princess Cruises just dropped the name of their latest Sphere Class beauty – the Star Princess! She’s set to make her grand entry with a debut season in the Mediterranean in August 2025.
Star Princess is under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, and she’s going to be a sibling to the Sun Princess. Both are record-breakers for Princess, with a jaw-dropping weight of 175,500 tons and a capacity to host 4,300 guests. But what makes the Star Princess unique is her design – she’s all about giving you that classic Princess charm while taking you closer to the ocean with some seriously stunning views.
Even though she’s 20% bigger than any other ship in Princess’s fleet, Star Princess keeps that cozy, intimate vibe that we all love about Princess Cruises. But she’s also packed with some game-changing features:
- The Dome, an entertainment venue that feels like you’re hanging out in Santorini.
- A next-gen Piazza with a glittering glass sphere at its heart.
- The Princess Arena, a versatile, tech-packed theater that’s all set to redefine onboard entertainment.
- And a dining room at the ship’s aft, giving you a breathtaking view of the ship’s wake.
The Star Princess isn’t just about the views, though. She’s got some mouth-watering new food and drink concepts lined up, a dazzling expanded casino, a two-story Lotus Spa, and some seriously show-stopping entertainment headlined by Cirque Éloize.
You’re also in for some super luxurious accommodation options, including their new Reserve and Signature Collections. And of course, you’ll enjoy Princess’s exclusive Medallion service that personalizes your onboard experience like no other.
Star Princess kicks off her inaugural season with a nine-day roundtrip voyage from Rome, covering the must-visit destinations of Corfu, Kotor, Mykonos, Santorini and Naples (hello, Capri and Pompeii!). After that, she’ll be embarking on a series of 9- and 10-day cruises from Rome, Athens, or Trieste (Venice), visiting dreamy coastal ports.
John Padgett, the president of Princess Cruises, couldn’t hide his excitement about the Star Princess. “She’s got a sleek design, spacious interiors, and offers incredible views of the sea and sky, much like her sister, the Sun Princess. We’ve put a lot of thought into designing these ships to feel familiar yet advanced, with lots of exciting new experiences for our guests to enjoy,” he said.
Fun fact: the Star Princess name has a rich history. The first Star Princess launched way back in 1988 as Sitmar Fair Majesty. After a merger with Sitmar Cruises, she was reborn as Star Princess in 1989, with the legendary actress and humanitarian Audrey Hepburn as her godmother. The second Star Princess came along in 2002 and played a big part in shaping the brand, introducing the concept of Anytime Dining that gave guests the freedom to dine when and where they wanted.
