Princess Cruises has just revealed a magnificent new ship platform that will set a new standard in cruise ship design and experiences. The Sun Princess is set to be the brand’s largest ship ever, accommodating over 4,000 guests, and boasts breathtaking views, spacious venues, innovative entertainment, multi-story dining rooms, and state-of-the-art staterooms.
Under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard, the 175,500-ton vessel is expected to debut in early 2024 and is the largest ship ever built by Princess Cruises. The Sun Princess combines Italian heritage with cutting-edge design, featuring an iconic Piazza and The Dome – an entertainment space inspired by the terraces of Santorini. The ship will also feature the exclusive Princess Medallion, extending Princess’s leadership in delivering personalized experiences at scale.
“Sun Princess is a new and bespoke ship platform, designed to simultaneously embrace Princess heritage while boldly pressing into the future with iconic, elegant and pure lines unique to our brand,” said John Padgett, President of Princess Cruises. “A show-stopping, first-of-its-kind Dome on the top deck and suspended glass Piazza in the center of Sun Princess offer innovative designs showcasing expansive ocean views for incredible opportunities to connect with the sea.”
Infused with light and stunning views, the Sun Princess promises an immersive and innovative experience for guests, from service to food to entertainment. The ship’s three-story Piazza is an architectural masterpiece, offering a suspended space with comfortable seating and stunning ocean views from every angle. The Piazza Atrium will feature a new coffee shop, Cocktail Bar, and beloved Princess favorites like Crooners Bar and Alfredo’s Pizzeria.
The Dome is another standout feature onboard the Sun Princess. Inspired by the terraces of Santorini, it is a multi-level, glass-enclosed dome that offers an indoor/outdoor pool during the day and transforms into an entertainment venue with a South Beach vibe at night.
The ship’s interior design is light and airy, offering breathtaking views from morning until night. With brighter décor and finishes, the Sun Princess promises to deliver memorable experiences for guests to take in stunning destinations and ocean vistas.
The 21-deck Sun Princess features 2,157 staterooms, including 50 suites and 100 connecting rooms, with more outdoor balcony space and in-room sofas in all balcony accommodations. The ship will also launch the Signature Collection, a new level of suite accommodations with access to a private restaurant, lounge, and sun deck.
Club Class accommodations onboard the Sun Princess will now be known as Reserve Collection, the best-located mini-suite staterooms, including Reserve Collection Cabana rooms with private balconies and extra-large outdoor lounge spaces.
The Sun Princess is part of Carnival Corporation’s green cruising initiative and is powered by LNG fuel technology, one of 11 new ships in the corporate fleet.
The inaugural season for the Sun Princess begins in early 2024 with Mediterranean itineraries, followed by Western and Eastern Caribbean voyages from Port Everglades, Florida in the fall of 2024. The first three voyages will go on sale on Friday, September 16th at 3 pm Eastern.
