Celebrity Cruises is investing $500-million in a fleet upgrade program named, CELEBRITY REVOLUTION, which will transform all the cruise line’s ships beginning in 2019. The fleet-wide program will refresh suites and staterooms and bring a new dining option and redesigned spa to select ships.
According to Celebrity, the line collaborated with more than 500 architects, designers, and engineers to bring many of the features found on their newest ship currently under construction, Celebrity Edge, to the rest of the fleet beginning with the oldest vessel, Celebrity Millennium.
Staterooms onboard Celebrity Millennium, Celebrity Constellation, Celebrity Infinity, and Celebrity Summit will see the most dramatic changes, with a fresh, chic design, rivaling the world’s best boutique hotels. They will also be fitted with Celebrity’s eXhale bedding featuring exclusive luxurious cashmere mattresses, RFID locks, pervasive Xcelerate and Bluetooth capabilities.
Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Equinox, and Celebrity Silhouette will gain a Reflection Suite and several Signature Suites which are found today on Celebrity Reflection. These new suites are being described as a subtle, coordinated fusion of East meets West, with clean lines, neutral tones, and a warm, inviting opulence.
The stateroom and suite design project is being led by designer Kelly Hoppen, MBE who said, “I wanted to invoke a feeling of timeless luxury that welcomed guests into their own haven. Your bedroom is where you sleep and where you wake, two of the most important times of day, especially when you are on vacation. It was important to create space, harmony and luxury within a home away from home setting and I think we achieved this balance perfectly.”
All ships are also being outfitted with an exclusive new sanctuary for all Suite Class guests called The Retreat. Making its debut on Celebrity Edge The Retreat features a private sun deck and lounge with the feel of a high-end resort, where guests can unwind on plush loungers, sip cocktails, and savor refreshing treats. The Retreat Lounge is not a new addition, but a redesign of Michael’s Club, the line’s cigar lounge, and will feature a completely new design and no more cigars.
When it comes to dining the line’s specialty restaurant, Qsine, will be renovated and rolled out to all ships and will feature Celebrity’s virtual Le Petit Chef experience, created by the world-famous artists of Skullmapping and presented by TableMation.
Other changes to restaurants include a redesigned Oceanview Café where an open, airy, marketplace-inspired design will offer guests island after island of international cuisine, and the Main Restaurants will undergo a redesign, with new textures and new finishes added throughout.
The Celebrity Revolution program will also see:
- Expansion of the SEA Thermal Suite, being introduced on Celebrity Edge, to offer therapeutic spa experiences at sea
- New shopping experiences including Shinola, John Hardy, and Hublot, plus digital photo galleries
- Elevated bars and lounges, including the newly reimagined Passport Bar and an expansion of Celebrity’s popular Gastrobar concept, serving more than 40 craft beers, creative cocktails, and gourmet comfort food
- Upgrades to public venues all throughout each ship, including The Hideaway, Team Earth, The Library, and more
All ships in the fleet will receive these upgrades by the time the initiative is complete in 2023.
