Carnival Cruise Line, the world’s largest cruise company, has added a new member to its loyalty club. But this time, the member is not a human, it’s a retired U.S. Army service dog named Sarge. Sailing on Carnival Celebration, Sarge achieved Diamond status of the Very Important Fun Person (VIFP) Club, becoming the first-ever canine member to reach this milestone.

At the Platinum and Diamond loyalty event, Sarge was honored for completing his 55th cruise and spending more than 200 nights at sea. The 14-year-old Belgian Malinois spent most of his life serving in the military and now lives and travels with his owner, Justin Marcum, Sr., who is also a Diamond member of Carnival’s VIFP Club.

Carnival’s VIFP Club offers a range of benefits and perks to its most loyal guests. Members have access to a special web portal where they can enjoy members-only specials, promotions, and other offers. The club’s Diamond status is the highest tier, which offers exclusive privileges such as priority check-in and boarding, complimentary spa treatments, and more.

“We’re proud to celebrate and support veterans at Carnival, as the cruise line that carries the most service members, and I’m delighted to count Sarge among them,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “What could be more fun than celebrating a beloved four-legged friend as a Diamond cruiser?”

This unique and heartwarming story shows how Carnival Cruise Line values its guests, including their furry companions. It also highlights the company’s commitment to supporting the military community and honoring their service. Sarge’s achievement serves as an inspiration to all travelers, showing that loyalty, hard work, and dedication can be recognized and rewarded regardless of who you are.
