For the first time ever, Carnival Cruise Line will begin offering cruises to Cuba from Miami begining in 2019. The announcement comes after the line saw “exceptional guest response” to cruises to Cuba from Tampa. The first cruise sailed last month, and two others are scheduled for July and September of this year.
The 2,052 paassenger Carnival Sensation, built in 1993, will sail 17 cruises to Cuba beginning April 2019. The schedule includes:
- Four five-day sailings to Havana and Grand Turk departing May 20, Sept. 9, Nov. 18 and Dec. 16, 2019
- Five five-day voyages featuring Havana, Nassau and Half Moon Cay departing June 17, July 15, Aug. 12, Sept. 23, and Nov. 4, 2019
- One five-day cruise to Havana, Nassau and Princess Cays departing April 22, 2019
- Seven five-day cruises to Havana and Grand Cayman departing May 6, June 3, July 1 and 29, Aug. 26, Oct. 7 and Dec. 2, 2019

Those sailing to Cuba will take part in more than 20 shore excursions that are designed to satisify theU.S. Department of Treasury’s requirements for approved travel to Cuba. These include experiences that showcase the island’s culture, beauty and centuries-old architecture, in addition to Cuban-themed activities, entertainment and onboard lectures.
Carnival Sensation, although an older ship, recently underwent a remodel which added a a number of food and beverage outlets including Guy’s Burger Joint, RedFrog Rum Bar, BlueIguana Tequila Bar, BlueIguana Cantina, Alchemy Bar, and the Cherry on Top candy shop.
