Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line is now officially a two-ship cruise line! The line, which operates out of the Port of Palm Beach, welcomed the Grand Classica to the fleet last week essentially doubling the line’s passenger capacity.
The cruise line specializes in quick trips from South Florida to Freeport on Grand Bahama Island for a price that, well… is pretty cheap. If you’re looking for a quick get-away, you can book an inside stateroom for less than $200 per person for a two-night cruise, all the food you can eat, as well as all the fun that comes along with a cruise vacation.
The Grand Classica was built in 1991 for Costa Cruises, a division of Carnival Corporation. In 2014, she was refurbished and given the name Costa neoClassica. She sailed for the line until March 2018 when she was sold to Bahamas Paradise and started her new life in Florida on April 13, 2018.
Let’s talk about the ship itself. When it comes to restaurants, the Grand Classica offers four choices that are included in your fare as well as 24-hour room service:
- Stellar Prime, the ship’s main dining room that serves beef, chicken and seafood entrees and also offers a steakhouse menu for an up-charge.
- Ocean View Buffet, the ship’s breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet restaurant.
- The Smoker by Ocean Breeze Bar serves brisket and sausages starting at 2:30 pm.
- Plunge Grill located poolside offering hot dogs, burgers, sausages and other grilled items.
Specialty restaurants, which are not included in your cruise fare but can be booked for an additional charge, include:
- Admiral’s Steak & Seafood, the ship’s signature steakhouse.
- The Bull Gourmet Burgers, as the name implies, a spot to grab a 10oz gourmet burger sold ala carte.
Live entertainment is offered in the Encore Lounge, the Regal Room and the Commodore Martini Lounge. The onboard casino offers up table games and slot machines, or if you’re not into gambling, you can hit the ship’s disco or take in a comedy show or a live Broadway-style production in the Legend’s Grand Theatre.
When it comes to accommodations, there aren’t that many room types to choose from. Interior staterooms measure 172 sq. feet; Ocean View comes in at 181 sq. feet; and the largest are the ship’s Terrace Suites ranging from 303 – 423 sq. feet and are the only ones that have balconies.
The Grand Classica holds 1,680 passengers and joins the 1987-built Grand Celebration which also was purchased from Carnival. Both sail the same itineraries from the Port of Palm Beach.
