Royal Caribbean’s second Icon Class cruise ship, Star of the Seas, is sailing one step closer to its grand debut by embarking on its sea trials in Turku, Finland, marking a key milestone in construction. Over the course of 11 days, more than 2,000 specialists will conduct hundreds of tests to ensure the ship meets the highest standards of performance, safety, and innovation.

The sea trials for Star of the Seas are an extensive evaluation of the ship’s capabilities. Covering hundreds of miles on the open ocean, the ship reached speeds of up to 25 knots while being pushed to its limits in terms of power, precision, and performance under pressure. From how the ship moves through the water to the functionality of its engine and technical systems, every detail was scrutinized.

The trials marked a key milestone in the construction of every new ship, ensuring that Star of the Seas is ready to deliver.  With the successful completion of these trials, Star of the Seas is now one step closer to welcoming guests.

Star of the Seas is part of Royal Caribbean’s revolutionary Icon Class, which hold the title for the largest cruise ships in the world.   Set to debut in August 2025 in Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida, the ship will offer a variety of itineraries throughout the Caribbean and Bahamas.
