In less than a month, MSC World America will make its debut in Miami, ushering in a new era of cruising for MSC Cruises. And guess what? I’ll be one of the lucky passengers stepping aboard for its maiden voyage! There’s something special about being on a ship’s first official cruise—it’s like stepping into a brand-new world (pun totally intended), where everything is fresh, exciting, and waiting to be explored.

As my readers know, I’ve been following the development of MSC World America, and now that the moment is almost here, it’s time to dive into what makes this ship so spectacular. From its cutting-edge design to thrilling attractions, there’s so much to look forward to. Here’s a closer look at the ship itself, followed by the top five things I’m most excited about experiencing onboard.

Meet MSC World America

MSC World America is the second in MSC’s innovative World Class series, following in the wake of MSC World Europa. At a massive 215,863 gross tons, it can carry over 6,700 passengers at full capacity and is designed to cater to North American cruisers with enhanced entertainment, dining, and relaxation experiences.

Here are some quick specs to get an idea of just how impressive this ship is:

  • Gross Tonnage: 215,863 GT
  • Length: 1,093 feet (333 meters)
  • Passenger Capacity: 6,762
  • Crew: Approximately 2,138
  • Number of Cabins: 2,626
  • Decks: 22
  • Power Source: LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) for reduced emissions

While MSC’s World Class vessels are the biggest for the cruise line, they’re not the biggest cruise ships out there.  Royal Caribbean still holds the record for having the biggest cruise ships in the world, with the Icon Class leading the way.  Here’s a look at Icon of the Seas numbers for comparison’s sake:

  • Gross Tonnage: 250,800 GT
  • Length: 1,198 ft (365m)
  • Passenger Capacity: 7,600
  • Crew: Approximately 2,350
  • Number of Cabins: 2,805
  • Decks: 20
  • Power Source: LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) for reduced emissions

Now, let’s talk about what I’m most excited to experience on this incredible ship!

Top 5 Things I Can’t Wait to Experience on MSC World America

1. The Cliffhanger – The Ultimate Adrenaline Rush

MSC World America is introducing something that’s never been done at sea before—The Cliffhanger, the first-ever overwater thrill ride. This attraction is designed to make your heart race as you dangle over the side of the ship, suspended in mid-air. As someone who loves an adrenaline rush, I can’t wait to strap in and experience the thrill of being literally on the edge of the ocean.

From what I’ve seen, The Cliffhanger is expected to provide unparalleled views of the open sea while delivering a gravity-defying experience. Whether it’s a stomach-churning drop or just a breathtaking view, I’ll be among the first to test it out—and I’ll be sure to report back!

2. The First Eataly at Sea

I’m a firm believer that one of the best parts of cruising is the food, and MSC World America is bringing something truly special onboard—the first-ever Eataly at sea. If you’re a fan of Italian cuisine (who isn’t?), this is going to be a game-changer.

Eataly is renowned for its high-quality, authentic Italian dishes featuring fresh ingredients, handmade pasta, and an extensive selection of cheeses and charcuterie. I’m already daydreaming about sipping a glass of wine while enjoying a perfect plate of cacio e pepe or a creamy burrata appetizer. Whether it’s freshly baked focaccia, a perfect Neapolitan-style pizza, or an indulgent tiramisu, I fully intend to eat my way through this experience.

3. The Gin Project – A Gin Lover’s Paradise

MSC World America is making waves in the cruise bar scene with The Gin Project, a specialty bar dedicated to gin enthusiasts. As someone who enjoys a well-crafted cocktail, I’m especially intrigued by this unique concept.

From what I’ve read, The Gin Project will offer over 70 varieties of gin, along with an expert mixologist team that knows how to craft the perfect botanical-infused cocktail. Whether I’m in the mood for a classic G&T with a twist or a creative gin-based cocktail, this is definitely a bar I’ll be spending some time in. It’s about time gin lovers got their own dedicated space onboard a cruise ship!

4. The MSC Sportplex – Bumper Cars at Sea!

Who doesn’t love a good round of bumper cars? On MSC World America, the MSC Sportplex is the ultimate indoor playground, featuring bumper cars, sports courts, and interactive games. I love that cruise ships are bringing more active and fun entertainment options onboard, and I can already see myself laughing uncontrollably as I battle fellow passengers in a bumper car showdown.

MSC is known for offering fun-filled activities for all ages, and I expect this area will be a favorite spot for families and playful adults alike. Plus, it’s a great way to burn off all the pasta I’ll be eating at Eataly!

5. Exploring the Ship’s Unique Districts

One of the most exciting things about MSC World America is its layout, which divides the ship into several distinct districts, each offering its own vibe, entertainment, and dining options. I can’t wait to explore and see how MSC has designed these new spaces.

The outdoor Promenade is expected to be a standout feature, offering breathtaking ocean views, entertainment, and al fresco dining. Then there’s the Zen Area, an adults-only retreat designed for relaxation. Families will love the Family Aventura neighborhood, which is built with younger passengers in mind, while the MSC Yacht Club provides an ultra-luxurious experience for those looking for exclusivity and personal service.

Each neighborhood has something unique to offer, and I plan to spend a good chunk of my time discovering the different atmospheres and hidden gems throughout the ship.
