Holland America Line’s beloved private island in The Bahamas, long known as Half Moon Cay, is undergoing a remarkable transformation. Recently rebranded as RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, this tropical paradise is being reimagined to elevate the guest experience while preserving its signature charm. With ongoing construction and exciting new enhancements, this award-winning destination is set to become an even more enticing retreat for travelers sailing with Holland America Line.

A New Era for RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay
The rebranding to RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay reflects a focus on tranquility and relaxation, paired with new amenities designed to enhance the island’s natural beauty. One of the most significant changes currently underway is the construction of a new pier on the island’s north side. This development, set to be completed by summer 2026, will allow Carnival Cruise Line’s larger Excel-class ships to dock directly at the island for the first time, eliminating the need for tender boats and making access seamless for Carnival guests. Alongside the pier, an expanded beach area is being crafted specifically for Carnival visitors, offering more space to unwind on the pristine white sands and swim in the crystal-clear turquoise waters.

Meanwhile, Holland America Line guests will continue to enjoy the secluded south side of the island, a peaceful haven they’ve enjoyed since the destination opened in 1997. This division ensures that both cruise lines can cater to their unique audiences. The enhancements, which also include refreshed dining venues, new bars, and upgraded facilities, are being rolled out in phases, with completion expected by the end of 2026.
Amenities Roll Out for 2026 Season
Guests sailing during the 2026 season will be among the first to enjoy the island’s latest upgrades. A highlight is the introduction of a new beach club, exclusively for Holland America Line passengers. This upscale retreat will feature priority tendering for faster access, waiter service, and a curated menu of exclusive food and beverage offerings.
Picture yourself sipping a tropical cocktail delivered by an Aperol Spritz tricycle or a Bacardi Beach Buggy while lounging on upgraded beach furniture with private access to the shore. The beach club will offer both indoor and outdoor seating, complete with stunning views of your ship anchored offshore.
For all visitors to RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, the enhancements extend beyond the beach club. Enhanced beach facilities, upgraded cabanas, villas, and canopy loungers for two will provide more ways to soak in the island’s tranquility.

New shopping venues will offer unique souvenirs, while refreshed dining options—like a revamped food court, the popular Lobster Shack, and new food trucks with island-exclusive menu items—will tantalize taste buds. You can also look forward to new pickleball courts, adding a fun twist to the island’s roster of activities, which already includes snorkeling, kayaking, and horseback riding in the surf.
