Two new ships are coming to Disney Cruise Line, the Walt Disney Company announced today. The new cruise ships will be larger than the newest ships in the fleet, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, and will weigh in at 135,000 gross tons and have 1,250 staterooms each.
The current four-ship fleet will see the new additions arrive in 2021 and 2023 and will be built by German shipbuilder Meyer Werft.
Disney Cruise Line was launched in 1998 with the Disney Magic entering service on July 30 of that year and the Disney Wonder in August 1999. It wasn’t until 2011 and 2012 when the Dream and Fantasy entered the fleet.
Details about the two new ships were scant, but knowing Disney, their Imagineers are ready to begin putting their creative touch to these two new vessels to make them “distinctly Disney.” Where they will sail as well as what type of amenities and features they will have were not announced.
Yours truly had the opportunity to sail on the Disney Wonder several years ago… it may be time to book another Disney cruise!
